Google Hangouts Will Stop Working In Late 2022

Google is back to old habits again as it's in the process of shutting down the Hangouts feature for normal users. Google made the announcement last week and as a result, several iOS and Android users are unable to access Hangouts today. However, Google is more merciful this time around. The shutdown will take place in multiple stages with the first stage involving the shutdown of old Hangouts mobile apps. These apps haven't received any major updates in recent months and are mostly unavailable for download on Google Play Store or Apple App Store. 

Google Hangout Shutdown To Occur In Phases

Meanwhile, Google is displaying the prompt "It's time for Chat in Gmail" to make people use the dedicated Google Chat apps or the Gmail tab. If users get this message, they're unable to use the classic hangouts on mobile any further. Likewise, people using the Hangouts Chrome extension are advised to install the progressive web app or Chat on the Web. 

During the next shutdown phase in July, users still using Hangouts through Gmail's sidebar will be upgraded to Chat in Gmail. However, people will still be able to use classic Hangouts.google.com until it stops working probably around 2022. Moreover, users will get a one-month heads-up beforehand. Lastly, in November, users will get the last deadline to download their copy of Hangouts data, a month after the service stops working. 

The news comes after another report which suggested that Google Duo is being replaced by Meet. The former will be named Google Meet as it recently received a ton of its features including a similarly designed user interface. As Google Hangouts is heading towards a permanent shutdown, it'd be interesting to see which of its products heads towards the chopping block next. Some people think that Google Stadia could be next on the list of things 'killed by Google,' considering its poor market share and Microsoft leading the charge into cloud gaming.

Diablo Immortal Launch For APAC On July 8: Download Details And System Requirements

Blizzard Entertainment is going to launch the Diablo Immortal for APAC markets on July 8 at 8am GMT+7 / 9am GMT+8. It will be available on iOS, Android, and Windows PC. The APAC markets include The Philippines, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Macao, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Taiwan. In the Vietnamese market, the game is hitting the PC only.

Here’s how to install the Diablo Immortal

On iOS/Android, head over to the respective app store on those platforms, search for Diablo Immortal, and install/get the game. 

On PC though, you have to log in to Battle.net (create an account if you don’t have one already), go to  “Games” > “Diablo Immortal” and click on “Install”. 

Once the game installs, just play. For cross-progression between the three platforms, you will have to login to Battle.net on all three of them with the same account.

Twitter Blue Subscribers On Android Finally Get Custom Navigation

Twitter has finally decided to allow Twitter Blue Android users to customise their app interface using the Custom Navigation feature. This allows for the users to make changes to their app navigation interface, fine-tuning it to their liking.

Twitter Blue, announced last year, is a subscription that Twitter users can sign up to. With a monthly cost of $3, they get access to features that let them undo their tweets, read ad-free articles, and make changes to their app’s theme. While, for the most part, these features are similar across platforms, there were some features like the in-app navigation customisation that was only available for iOS users. Now with this fresh set of changes, though, Android users will also get a taste of what the Apple users had on their phones for quite some time. Usually, these options are home, search, spaces, notifications, and direct messages. However, Twitter Blue subscribers can choose what they want on their home screen. It is to be noted that the home option is always automatically selected. Users can also choose whatever options they want to include and what to exclude.

Spotify Update To Enable Sound Recording, Editing Within The App

Spotify will probably soon allow creators to edit and record podcasts within its app. Modern technology has given the rise to a number of content creators. Keeping that in mind, social media platforms like YouTube, Facebook and Instagram keep offering new features to make content creation easy. Additionally, Spotify is another similar platform that's making it super easy for content creators to bring their creativity in front of the world. 

As a result, Spotify has released a brand new feature that'd allow creators to record and edit podcasts within the app. The music-streaming giant released this feature last month in New Zealand, thus eliminating the need for a separate app like the Spotify-owned Anchor. Commenting on this update, Spotify executive and anchor co-founder Micheal Mignano said that the new update will allow users to create a brand new episode with "no extra tools or hardware needed."  

How To Use The Spotify Podcast Edit, Record Feature

As per the video posted by Spotify New Zealand, here are the steps users can take to record and edit their podcasts. Users in the region will see a "+" symbol next to "Your Library" at the bottom of the home screen. After clicking on it a sub-menu will appear and users can choose the "Record podcast" or "Create Playlist" option. 

After clicking on the "Record podcast" option, a landing screen will appear featuring a record button, pressing the same will start the clip recording. Users can record the entire podcast in one go or record it in small clips. After they're done recording users can click on the edit option to make any changes to their clip like adding music, preset, and much more. 

After the users are finished recording and editing the podcast, they can add a description, add tags, and publish the episode as per the requirement. As of now, there are no details on the availability of the Spotify update. However, considering its successful launch in New Zealand, it won't be long before it hits the rest of the world.
