iPhone 14 And iPhone 14 Pro Will Have Different OLED Panels, Claims Report

Tech giant Apple is planning to use different OLED panel grades for the upcoming iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro, media reports claim.

According to TheElec, Samsung Display will be applying different grades of materials on the OLED panels it will manufacture for the upcoming iPhone 14 series depending on the model tiers.

It will use its latest and most advanced material set for the higher tier iPhone 14 models, while it will use its prior generation set for the lower tier ones. The move is being made to save costs.

Samsung Display will be supplying OLED panels for all four models of the iPhone 14 series; rival LG Display will be supplying for two models, citing sources, the report said.

Samsung Display calls its material sets used on Samsung's Galaxy and Apple's iPhones the M series.

The South Korean display maker used its LT sets in 2017 for Apple's first OLED iPhone, the iPhone X and in 2018 iPhone XS. But starting in 2019 it began using its M series for panels supplied for Galaxy smartphones and iPhones.

Samsung’s OLED panels will feature on iPhone 14 series

Samsung Display will use its M11 material set for the standard 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch models in the iPhone 14 series.

These phones will have low-temperature polycrystalline silicon (LTPS) thin-film transistor (TFT) OLED panels, which are less advanced than the low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) TFT OLED panels used in the higher-tier models.

The two higher-tier models in the iPhone 14 series will use Samsung Display's M12 material set.

This same OLED material set is being used for the OLED panels on Samsung's upcoming foldable phones Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4.

Jio Is Ready To Roll Out Pan-India 5G: Here Is What You Need To Know

In the 7-day 5G auction, Reliance Jio came on top with a ₹88,078 investment and the acquisition of nearly half of all the available airwaves. And as you’d expect, the company has come forward with an announcement that it is going to launch the pan-India 5G rollout soon. It might kick off the works on Independence Day.

The newly appointed chairman of the company, Mr. Akash Ambani has said, "We will celebrate ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ with a pan India 5G rollout. Jio is committed to offering world-class, affordable 5G and 5G-enabled services."

Jio envisions its 5G services will contribute to the country’s growth in “sectors like education, healthcare, agriculture, manufacturing, and e-Governance”.

It believes it can do so thanks to its deep fiber network, and the recently acquired “combination of low-band, mid-band, and mmWave spectrum”.

Meanwhile, its competitors like Airtel and Vi are yet to reveal their plans.

Airtel has acquired 19,867.8 MHz of airwaves for ₹43,084 crores and Vodafone Idea (Vi) has put in ₹18,799 crores to grab a 6,228 MHz share of the bandwidth. 

Not only those two but there is also a new player in the game — Adani Data Networks (Adani Group) which has put in ₹212 crore for 400 MHz of spectrum.  It, however, has said this is meant for private needs and not for competing in the consumer mobility space. 

So, in total 4 companies spent about 1.5 trillion rupees for 20-year 5G licenses and in the process have acquired about 71% of the offered 72 GHz airwaves.

Day 7 Of 5G Spectrum Auction: 5G Services To Go Live In October, Says IT Minister

India’s 5G spectrum auction has entered its seventh day with the government receiving bids worth ₹1.50 lakh crores until Sunday, July 31. The 5G auction began on July 26 in India where the three major telecom companies-- Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel and Vi, along with newcomer Adani Data Networks got into a bidding war for a generous piece of 72 GHz 5G airwaves.

On Sunday, the auction fetched increased demand for the UP East circle and the 1800 MHz band. The UP East circle has over 10 crore subscribers and includes cities such as Lucknow, Allahabad, Varanasi, Kanpur, Gorakhpur and more, making it an alluring prospect for the telcos like Jio and Airtel.

5G services rollout starting from October

“As soon as the spectrum auction ends, within a few days itself, we will allocate the auctions. We expect that the rollout will happen starting in October, and within a year or so, we should have a good rollout of 5G in the country,” Union Communications Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said in a press conference.

Reliance Jio and Airtel remain the two major players in the 5G spectrum bidding who have purchased multiple mid and high-frequency bands. Many in the telecom industry believe that the 5G market could be headed for a duopoly but the IT Minister shunned such beliefs and said, “Duopoly will not happen. The September reforms have resulted in good stability in the industry. We are looking at new players to enter the segment. There is going to be good healthy competition in the sector. BSNL will emerge as a good market balancer.”

5G is the latest standard in cellular connectivity that brings high-speed internet connectivity, increased bandwidth, low latency and ushers in several developments in IoT, AI-enabled platforms and more. With 5G, users will be able to get download speeds reaching over 10 Gbps which is almost 100 times faster than the current 4G LTE connectivity. In India, most 5G phones sold in the last few years support bands in the mid-frequency range and some also support high-frequency bands.

Day 7 of India's 5G auction is underway and we’ll know the final bid details as it closes in what is likely the final day of bidding.

25 Percent Of Your Customer Care Interactions Will Only Be With Chatbots By 2027

Chatbots will become the primary customer service channel for roughly a quarter of organisations in the next five years, according to a Gartner report.

Chatbots and virtual customer assistants (VCAs) have evolved over the past decade to become a critical technology component of a service organisation's strategy.

"When designed correctly, chatbots can improve customer experience and drive positive customer emotion at a lower cost than live interactions," said Uma Challa, Senior Director Analyst.

A recent Gartner survey revealed 54 percent of respondents are using some form of chatbot, VCA or other conversational AI platform for customer-facing applications.

"Customer service and support (CSS) leaders have a positive future outlook for chatbots, but struggle to identify actionable metrics, minimising their ability to drive chatbot evolution and expansion, and limiting their return on investment (ROI)," said Challa.

Another recent research found that the number of chatbot messaging apps accessed globally will increase from 3.5 billion in 2022 to 9.5 billion by 2026.

This 169 per cent growth will be driven by the increasing adoption of omni-channel retail strategies by e-commerce players and the rising integration of chatbots within messaging platforms, according to Juniper research.

"Retail spend over chatbot messaging apps will account for over 50 percent of global chatbot retail spend by 2026," the report mentioned.

Additionally, as chatbot traffic grows, machine learning must be used to assess past conversations and further automate the omnichannel retail experience over chatbots.

WhatsApp group admins to get better moderation tools

Meta-owned messenger, WhatsApp has been getting a lot of updates of late, with the most recent one being that group admins would soon be allowed to delete messages for every member in a group chat. This feature comes as a part of the beta release of the app on the Google Play store, with the version number 2.22.17.12.

There have been a host of other features too that the platform has been playing around with, in its beta releases recently. These include – rich preview of links in status updates, waveforms for voice notes, full emoji keyboard for reacting to messages, etc. While some of these features may not make to the public version of the app, the beta testers are getting a taste of it.

Better moderation controls for admins

The feature in focus here, which is the group message delete privilege for admins is also a part of the beta release, rolled out to a select few lucky users, reported WABetaInfo. This comes as a welcome addition to the group messaging feature of WhatsApp, which has been a nightmare for some group admins for some time now. As it would be in every group, there are certain members spamming away in the chat, making the messages a pain to navigate through for other users. However, the addition of the group message delete privilege for admins will enable them to have more control over the happenings of the group. They will be able to manage chats in a better way by deleting unnecessary messages posted by members.

As for other updates that are in the pipeline, iOS users might soon get to react to status updates. Given the proactiveness shown by the developers and the higher ups at WhatsApp, it looks that there could be more than these updates that would be coming our way soon. It will be interesting to see what these updates are and how they affect the user experience within the app.

After launching the Hot 12 Play smartphone in India earlier this year, Infinix is now all set to launch another device in the Hot 12 series in the form of the Infinix Hot 12 Pro. The phone is set to feature a 6.6-inch display panel with a 90Hz refresh rate and also be equipped with a 5,000mAh battery. 

Ahead of the phone's launch, a micro-site has gone live on Flipkart revealing the launch date and some crucial details about the device. As per the micro-site, the phone will launch in India on August 2. 

Infinix Hot 12 Pro: Specifications, Features And What We Know So Far

So, the company has already revealed quite a few details about the Hot 12 Pro ahead of its launch. And the rest have been revealed by tipsters online. The micro-site for the device on Flipkart reveals that the phone will feature a 6.6-inch display with support for 90Hz refresh rate and 180Hz touch sampling rate. 

Further, the smartphone will come with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. For cameras, the Infinix Hot 12 Pro will come with dual-rear cameras at the back, including a 50MP primary shooter with an f/1.6 aperture. The whole package will come equipped with a 5,000mAh battery which is confirmed to support 18W fast charging. This, the company has revealed, will be charged using a Type-C port. 

More details about the device are awaited, but considering that the phone will launch in India tomorrow, the wait for this information won't be too long. Indias 5G Spectrum Auction: Bids Top Over 1,50,000 Crore In Just Six Days

Day 6 of the ongoing 5G spectrum auction on Sunday saw an incremental increase in the bidding figure after 37 rounds, with the government now receiving bids worth Rs 1,50,130 crore to date.

Led by Reliance Jio with over Rs 80,100 crore and Bharati Airtel with around Rs 50,000 crore worth bids, the 5G spectrum auction will continue on Monday.

While Vodafone Idea has placed bids for about Rs 15,000 crore, a unit of Adani Enterprises has placed bids around Rs 5,000 crore.

Earlier, addressing the 'Telecom Investors Roundtable' in Mumbai, Vaishnaw had said that there is no upfront payment and the winning telecom companies can pay the money over a period of 20 years.

In all, 72 GHz (gigahertz) of radiowaves worth at least Rs 4.3 lakh crore on the block. More than 71 per cent of the total 5G spectrum put on the block has been provisionally sold. IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw expects 5G rollout by October this year.

In 2015, the telecom spectrum auction fetched Rs 1.10 lakh crore for the government. 5G, which can provide data speeds about 10 times faster than 4G, would enable better e-health, connected vehicles, AR/metaverse and mobile gaming/streaming.

The ongoing 5G spectrum auction indicates that the country's telecom industry has come a long way in 5G advancements, said Mr. Vaishnaw. The industry has emerged to become a sunrise industry in India and a benchmark for the world, the minister added.
