OpenAI removes the waitlist from DALL-E, allowing new users to sign up

OpenAI has officially announced that their AI Art Generator DALL-E is now available to everyone and can be used without any waitlist. This means that users can sign up and start using the machine learning model immediately without any waiting period.

In a blog post, OpenAI said, “We are removing the waitlist for the DALL·E beta so users can sign up and start using it immediately. More than 1.5M users are now actively creating over 2M images a day with DALL·E—from artists and creative directors to authors and architects—with over 100K users sharing their creations and feedback in our Discord community.”

What is DALL-E?

In case you’re wondering what DALL-E actually is, it is an open-source machine learning model that allows the creation of original images from scratch using just text descriptions. It can combine different objects, concepts, characteristics and styles while creating an image.

The first version of DALL-E was released in January 2021 and was very basic. While it did what it said, the results weren’t impressive at all. However, later in April of this year, OpenAI released DALL-E 2, which generated images that were very realistic. It has also gained a lot of popularity since then.

How do I sign up for DALL-E?

In order to sign up, you will first need to go to visit this site. Once there, you can sign up using an Email ID or a Google or even a Microsoft account. Once that’s done, you will also be needing to put in your phone number. After that, your account will be created!  Any new users that sign up for the service get 50 free credits, and further, more credits can be purchased.

In order to use the service, all you need to do is enter a text prompt and hit enter. Any images generated with DALL-E are owned by OpenAI, however, the company allows the users to use the images. But the company says that any content violations will revoke the right to use the generated images.

Intel launches Arc A750 and A770 GPUs Claims to outperform the RTX 3060

Intel has officially unveiled the Arc A750 and A770 GPUs. The launch of both these cards has been long overdue as the initial announcement was made in March of this year. Since that time, everyone has been waiting for the launch of both these cards.

Intel Arc A750 and A770 Specifications

As for the specifications, starting off with the A770, it includes 32 Xe cores, 32 ray-tracing units and a 2,100 MHz clock with a 225w power draw. In terms of RAM, it comes in 8GB and 16GB configurations, with up to 512 Gb/s and 560 Gb/s of memory bandwidth.

Moving onto the A750, Intel says that it features the same chip as the A770, however, instead of 32 cores on the other card, the A750 comes with 28 Xe cores, along with 28 ray-tracing units and a 2050MHz clock. Unlike the A770, the A750 only gets a single 8GB GDDR6 variant, but the 512 GB/s memory bandwidth remains the same.

According to the benchmark test made by Intel, both the GPUs perform better than the GeForce RTX 3060. The tests were split into four categories, DirectX12 Optimized, DirectX 12, Vulkan, and DirectX 11. The A750 outperformed the 3060 on DirectX 12 and Vulkan, and it was competing impressively with the RTX 3060 in DirectX 11 tests.

Intel Arc A750 and A770 Pricing and Availability

Now for the pricing and availability, the Arc A750 starts at $289. Meanwhile, the Arc A770 starts at $329 for the 8GB variant and the 16GB variant would start at $349. Intel said that the A770 offers 42% greater performance per dollar vs the RTX 3060, while the A750 is 53% better on a per-dollar basis.

So far, Intel has only announced that the Arc A750 will release on October 12. No dates have been given for the Arc A770, yet.

Google disables online translation service in mainland China

San Francisco, Oct 1 (IANS) Google has disabled its online translation service in mainland China owing to "low usage", and redirected people to the Hong Kong domain which isn't accessible for users from within the country.

Several users reported on Reddit and other social media platforms that Google China Translate service became inaccessible, hampering their work.

"Today, at least 10 hours ago, translate.google.cn became inaccessible, I found this based on an automated test accessing it failing. It redirects to a normal Google search. translate.google.hk still accessible," one user posted on Reddit late on Friday.

A Google spokesperson told TechCrunch that the company has discontinued Google Translate in mainland China "due to low usage".

Another affected user posted: "Yes. Google is shutting down translate CN. It will redirect to the HK site permanently."

Earlier, Google had terminated its controversial China search engine project, named Dragonfly.

The controversial Chinese search engine raised privacy, censorship, and human rights concerns.

Google's offices in the US, UK, Canada, India, Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Sweden, Switzerland, and Denmark witnessed protests by human rights groups over its plan to re-enter China through "Project Dragonfly".

The search engine giant had launched a search engine in China in 2006 but pulled the service out of the country in 2010, citing Chinese government efforts to limit free speech and block websites.
