Cred UPI payment service is called Scan & Pay: Heres how it works

Credit card bill payment platform Cred on Saturday launched 'Scan & pay', a UPI payment experience for members on the app.

The members can make UPI payments from their bank accounts linked to the CRED app, by scanning any QR code.

"The all-new Cred pay experience builds on top of this with privacy-first features, personalisation and other member exclusives," said Kunal Shah, Founder, Cred.

The company said that every ‘Scan & Pay’ payment is protected and if the payment is stuck and awaiting confirmation from the recipient's bank, "Cred members can skip the anxiety and initiate another transaction".

Members can be assured that they will be credited money back in cases where a payment has been debited, not reached the recipient, and is later deemed successful, said the company.

This feature is available as a CRED member privilege for payments made using ‘Scan & Pay’.

The members using ‘Scan & Pay’ can get 2 times rewards at partner merchants, deals on marquee brands, cashbacks and curated experiences, the company informed.

Partner brands offering curated rewards to Cred members using ‘Scan & Pay’ range from Starbuck, Shoppers Stop, Puma, and Chaayos, among others.

"The country's top 1 per cent have set the stage for how India consumes and we believe they deserve an experience that celebrates their contribution," said Shah.

Twitter banned more than 57000 accounts in India recently: Heres why

Facing a massive controversy over the proliferation of child pornography on its platform in India, Twitter said on Saturday that it banned 57,643 accounts in the country for promoting child sexual exploitation, non-consensual nudity and allied content between July 26 and August 25.

Earlier this week, Delhi Commission for Women chairperson Swati Maliwal had said the replies received from Twitter in the child pornography complaints were incomplete and the Commission was not satisfied with them.

Maliwal had on September 20 summoned Twitter India Policy Head and Delhi Police over tweets depicting child pornography and rape videos of women and children on the micro-blogging platform.

Taking suo moto cognisance of several tweets openly depicting videos and photographs of sexual acts involving children, the Commission said that most of the tweets portrayed children completely naked and many of them also depicted brutal rape and other non-consensual sexual activities with children and women.

Twitter, in its monthly report in compliance with the new IT Rules, 2021, also said that it received 1,088 complaints from users in India in the same time-frame through its grievance redressal mechanisms.

Acting on the complaints, the company took action against 41 URLs.

In addition, "we processed 76 grievances which were appealing Twitter account suspensions. These were all resolved and the appropriate responses were sent", said the company.

"We overturned none of these account suspensions after reviewing the specifics of the situation," it added.

Twitter also received 15 requests related to general questions about accounts during this reporting period.

The company said it "does not tolerate any material that features or promotes child sexual exploitation -- whether in Direct Messages or elsewhere throughout the service".

In India, the users complained the most about online abuse and harassment (544) and hateful conduct (502), among other categories.

Meanwhile, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk this week expressed grave concerns over reports about the presence of tweets soliciting child pornography on Twitter.

Reacting to a report on how major advertising brands have pulled out from Twitter as their promotion posts appeared alongside child porn tweets, Musk said: "Extremely concerning."

OpenAI removes the waitlist from DALL-E, allowing new users to sign up

OpenAI has officially announced that their AI Art Generator DALL-E is now available to everyone and can be used without any waitlist. This means that users can sign up and start using the machine learning model immediately without any waiting period.

In a blog post, OpenAI said, “We are removing the waitlist for the DALL·E beta so users can sign up and start using it immediately. More than 1.5M users are now actively creating over 2M images a day with DALL·E—from artists and creative directors to authors and architects—with over 100K users sharing their creations and feedback in our Discord community.”

What is DALL-E?

In case you’re wondering what DALL-E actually is, it is an open-source machine learning model that allows the creation of original images from scratch using just text descriptions. It can combine different objects, concepts, characteristics and styles while creating an image.

The first version of DALL-E was released in January 2021 and was very basic. While it did what it said, the results weren’t impressive at all. However, later in April of this year, OpenAI released DALL-E 2, which generated images that were very realistic. It has also gained a lot of popularity since then.

How do I sign up for DALL-E?

In order to sign up, you will first need to go to visit this site. Once there, you can sign up using an Email ID or a Google or even a Microsoft account. Once that’s done, you will also be needing to put in your phone number. After that, your account will be created!  Any new users that sign up for the service get 50 free credits, and further, more credits can be purchased.

In order to use the service, all you need to do is enter a text prompt and hit enter. Any images generated with DALL-E are owned by OpenAI, however, the company allows the users to use the images. But the company says that any content violations will revoke the right to use the generated images.
