Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 details leaked: Here is everything you need to know

Qualcomm’s Sanpdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC was announced earlier this year and as of now, it has been used in a few smartphones. Now it looks like the company is gearing up to launch the new Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 SoC, as a new leak about the SoC has revealed new some details. So let’s take a detailed look at the leaked specifications of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 2.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 details

Qualcomm is expected to announce the new Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 SoC soon. Popular tipster, Roland Quandt has revealed a few details of the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon SM7475 which will reportedly be the Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 SoC.

If we take a look at the details, the SM7475 might have a tri-cluster design with a single Prime core, three Gold cores and four Silver cores. The Prime core could have a 2.4GHz peak clock speed, whereas the Gold cores might come with a 2.36GHz peak core frequency and the Silver cores should be clocked at 1.8GHz.

The SoC is likely to feature Cortex A715 for the Prime and Gold cores, while the Silver cores could use Cortex-A510. While the SoC would offer very huge performance gains over the current Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC, it could be much more efficient.

While Qualcomm still hasn’t made any announcement regarding the Snapdragon 7 Gen 2, chances for the launch are much higher now as the company will be hosting a Snapdragon Summit next month. The company will be revealing its new flagship mobile platform, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, so we might get to see the Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 SoC there as well.

Electronic Arts launches new PC client for Windows and Mac users after 10 years

One of the most popular video game publishers, Electronic Arts, has bid farewell to the 10-year-old Origin platform. From now on, players will enjoy their download and manage their favourite games through the new EA app, which has been under development for two years. The new app comes with improvements in the UI, helping users discover new games, stay connected with their friends and provide an enhanced user experience.

The new PC client is EA’s fastest platform yet

In the official blog post, EA calls the new PC client their “fastest and lightest PC client to date.” Before the announcement, EA tested the PC client in open beta. The new EA app comes with a streamlined design that ensures players can easily find the game they want. Further, the app features automatic game downloads and background updates so that the games are ready to play anytime.

The EA App will also allow users to connect to other platforms and services like PlayStation, Xbox and Steam. This feature will be helpful, especially for games that support cross-play, including the latest FIFA 13 and Apex Legends. Further, EA will assign users a unique ID that will make them recognisable by their friends. Electronics Arts will invite Origin app users to switch to the “faster, more reliable, and more streamlined gaming experience” soon.

Players can download the new platform from EA’s official website

Players don’t need to worry about their games, including local and cloud saves and other related content, as by the time EA invites them, all their digital assets will be waiting for them on the new app. However, if someone hasn’t received the invite, they can head to the official EA website and download the latest PC client for Windows and macOS. Additionally, the friend lists will be transferred as well.

NASAs Hubble captures spectacular pair of interacting galaxies

Washington, Oct 8 (IANS) NASA's Hubble Space Telescope has captured a stunning pair of two face-on galaxies, providing spectacular views of their spiral arms, background stars and galaxies.

The two interacting galaxies, making up the pair known as 'Arp-Madore 608-333', seem to float side by side in this image from the Hubble Space Telescope.

"Though they appear serene and unperturbed, the two are subtly warping one another through a mutual gravitational interaction that is disrupting and distorting both galaxies. Hubble's Advanced Camera for Surveys captured this drawn-out galactic interaction," NASA said in a statement.

The interacting galaxies are part of an effort to build up an archive of interesting targets for more detailed future study with Hubble, ground-based telescopes, and the NASA/ESA/CSA James Webb Space Telescope.

To build up this archive, astronomers scoured existing astronomical catalogues for a list of targets spread throughout the night sky.

They hoped to include objects already identified as interesting and that would be easy for Hubble to observe no matter which direction it was pointing.

"Deciding how to award Hubble observing time is a drawn-out, competitive, and difficult process, and the observations are allocated to use every last second of Hubble time available," said NASA.

However, there is a small but persistent fraction of time - around 2-3 per cent - that goes unused as Hubble turns to point at new targets.

Snapshot programmes not only produce beautiful images but also enable astronomers to gather as much data as possible with Hubble, according to the space agency.

The Hubble Space Telescope was launched into low-Earth orbit in 1990 and remains in operation.

Apple A16 Bionic costs more than twice to manufacture compared to A15

Tokyo, Oct 8 (IANS) The A16 Bionic chip in iPhone 14 Pro models costs $110 to manufacture, which is 2.4 times more than A15 chip in iPhone 14 models.

A Nikkei teardown of Apple's iPhone 14 series models revealed that production costs jumped nearly 20 per cent from its previous iPhone generation which is an all-time high.

"The company has not raised prices for its latest model in the US and some other markets, but higher production costs mean that the company's profit margin has likely shrunk," the report mentioned on Friday.

The production of iPhone 14 Pro Max costs Apple $501, up more than $60 from iPhone 13 Pro Max.

The higher production cost is reportedly due to the A16 Bionic chips in the iPhone 14 Pro models.

According to the report, Parts for the iPhone 14 primarily come from US suppliers, accounting for 32.4 per cent of costs.

Apple raised iPhone prices in some countries, such as Japan and Australia, but not in the US and other markets owing to foreign exchange rates as the US dollar has been very strong this year.

The A16 Bionic chip in iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max offers experiences like the Dynamic Island, powers all-day battery life, and delivers impressive computational photography capabilities.

With two high-performance cores and four high-efficiency cores, the new 6-core CPU is up to 40 per cent faster than the competition and easily handles demanding workloads. A16 Bionic features an accelerated 5-core GPU with 50 percent more memory bandwidth -- perfect for graphics-intensive games and apps -- and a new 16-core Neural Engine capable of nearly 17 trillion operations per second, according to Apple.

The CPU, GPU, Neural Engine and image signal processor seamlessly work together to support the new camera hardware and perform up to 4 trillion operations per photo.
