The Vivo Y02 has launched in India: Here are its top features

The Vivo Y02 has officially launched in India and is the successor to the Vivo Y01, an entry-level offering from this brand. The new model will offer an improved design, bigger battery, and better display when compared to the Vivo Y01, and has a few distinct highlights like a water notch display for the front camera, neat, round-shaped camera modules, and an affordable price point. The smartphone is already available on the brand’s official website. 

Vivo Y02 features

The Vivo Y02 comes with a 6.51-inch IPS LCD display with an HD+ resolution (720 x 1600 pixels) and a 60Hz refresh rate. The display is equipped with eye-protection mode and has a 20:9 aspect ratio. This smartphone has a 5MP selfie camera in the waterdrop notch display and an 8MP primary camera with an LED flash on the back. It offers photography features, such as face beauty and timelapse. It is believed that this smartphone will have an Helio P22 chipset, though the official listing says that it has an octa-core processor without specifying further details. It will also offer 3GB RAM along with 32GB internal storage. The storage can be expanded with a microSD card. 

The phone houses a 5,000mAh battery. It runs on FunTouch OS 12 which is overlaid on Android 12 (Go edition). This entry-level smartphone has handy features such as Bluetooth 5.0, a micro USB 2.0 port, WiFi 5, 4G VoLTE, and a 3.5-mm audio jack. It weighs around 186 grams and measures 163.99 x 75.64 x 8.49-mm.

Vivo Y02 price and availability

The Vivo Y02 is an entry-level smartphone that is priced at ₹8,999. It is available on the official website. It could be hitting the e-commerce store shelves before long. You can pick the device in Orchid Blue and Cosmic Grey.

Amazon Prime Gaming for PC is coming to India soon: Heres what it brings to the table

It seems that Amazon Prime is gearing up to introduce its Amazon Prime Gaming services in India. Now, many may remember that Amazon introduced Prime Gaming in 2020, however, the service only included in-bonus game items that are intended for mobile games.

Amazon Prime Gaming, which is already available in a few countries, gives you access to in-game as well as PC games, as long as you are an Amazon Prime subscriber. This is available at no additional cost. Amazon India has not currently confirmed when this service will launch, however, it is evident that the company is doing to do so soon since they have already launched a webpage announcing the same. 

What is Amazon Prime Gaming?

Rishi Alwani, an insider in the gaming industry, recently spotted a dedicated Amazon Prime Gaming page on the Amazon India website. The page says “Prime Gaming is now in India”.

When Rishi clicked the banner to investigate further, it took him to an error page saying  “Prime Gaming is not available.” This could indicate that the page was made live before the launch to generate excitement (or went live accidentally).

The official Prime Gaming page explains the service. It says “With Prime Gaming (included with your Prime membership) unlock instant access to tons of exclusive content for your favourite games and a rotating collection of PC games…each and every month”.

The Amazon app also displays the same page and the same error on clicking on any component on the page such as Games. 

With the gaming industry growing rapidly in India, and companies like Jio trying to launch their own Cloud gaming ventures, this could be another critical offering that adds a lot of value to gamers.

Apple VRAR headset could reportedly get delayed: Heres when you can expect them

Recently, Apple rechristened his VR/AR system as xrOS, and this spurred plenty of speculation about the piece of tech launching soon. Even with rumours of delays emerging recently, this tech is still believed to launch in the second half of 2023. According to Ming-Chi Kuo, these delays have happened due to software-related issues. 

“My latest survey indicates that the mass shipment schedule of Apple's MR headset may delay to 2H23 because of software-related issues (vs. the previous estimate of 2Q23).” he tweeted, as a part of a larger thread talking about the upcoming products.

“The mass shipment schedule of components is still likely 1H23/2Q23, but due to the postponed mass shipment schedule of the end product, Apple MR headset shipment forecast in 2023 will likely be less than 500k units, which is lower than the market consensus of 800k-1,200k units.” he elaborated.

(4/8) It's already a market consensus the AR/VR headset device will be the next critical growth driver for optical industry. The market previously expected Apple's MR headset, which will start mass shipments in 2Q23, would be a spotlight in the low season of the optical industry.

When will the Apple VR/AR headsets launch?

Even with these delays, it is believed that the product will launch sometime in 2023. The delay in shipment does not necessarily mean that there is a just cause for worry - VR/AR headsets are a fairly new type of tech that is still in its infancy, and it's bound to take some time for manufacturing companies to iron out software issues and determine the product to be ready for the masses.

The brand had scheduled a media launch event in January 2023. However, it is unclear whether this event will be pushed forward. 

“It still needs to be determined whether the media event schedule (previously estimated in January 2023) will also delay, but usually, if the time frame between the media event and end product mass shipment is too long, it's detrimental to promotion and sales.” tweeted Ming-Chi Kuo.

The headsets will enable users to enter the metaverse and interact with it, and will certainly help usher in a new world of digital communication and entertainment.
