Apple will shift AirPods production to Hon Teng FIT

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo tweeted that the tech giant is planning to move the assembly of the Apple AirPods to Hon Teng (FIT), which is a subsidiary of the Hon Hai/Foxconn Group. Foxconn is also responsible for the production of Apple iPhones, though it’s important to know that they are not solely responsible for the same. Apple iPhones are being manufactured in India, and the brand plans to scale production this year.

(3/5) My latest survey indicates that Hon Teng (FIT) - a Hon Hai/Foxconn Group subsidiary - may be set to take over from Goertek as the new supplier for AirPods assembly. This move will bring significant benefits for Hon Teng.

— 郭明錤 (Ming-Chi Kuo) (@mingchikuo) January 12, 2023 Apple will let Hon Teng assemble Apple AirPods

According to Kuo, with the move, Apple will be able to ensure that the new generation of the Apple AirPods may start shipping out by the second half of 2024, or the first half of 2025. The Apple Airpods may be priced at $99 (which is around ₹8,079.84). Hon Teng and Luxshare ICT will assemble the new Apple AirPods Max.

Kuo also added that the assembly of the Apple Airpods and other projects such as Hon Hai's EV business/MIH Consortium will end up being two major growth drivers for the company in the coming years. This means that Hon Teng will be a company to watch out for in the future.

Apple will also manufacture its own chips

In other news, Apple is also gearing up to manufacture its own in-house chips and will be phasing out Qualcomm slowly. The company is also developing its own OLED displays to decrease the reliance on third-party companies such as Samsung Display. Its first micro-LED display is rumoured to be in an upcoming Apple Watch series.

Apple iPhone 16 Pro models could come with an under-display Face ID

According to a report published in The Elec (via MacRumors), Apple may bring an under-display Face ID to the upcoming Apple iPhone 16 Pro. The technology will sit under the screen and will blend in with the whole display. It will only reveal the cutout designed for the front-facing camera once it's turned on.

There were plenty of rumours about this technology being used in the Apple iPhone 14 Pro as well as the Apple iPhone 15, but these didn’t pan out. This is mainly because the technology has not been worked out completely yet.

Apple iPhone 16 Samsung under-display cameras

Samsung is also rumoured to be experimenting with this technology. It had been added to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, however, when the display is turned on, the camera is still noticeable and it ends up shooting poor-quality images. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 did improve this a little bit, but not much.

iPhone 16 How will Apple’s under-display Face ID work?

Apple’s Face ID uses TrueDepth infrared camera in order to analyse and map the features of one’s face, and because of this, creating the technology has been challenging. At this point, the IR is believed to be glitchy and it would not be possible to analyse one’s face correctly.

Rumours indicate that the Apple iPhone 16 Pro models will have the new technology, however, there are still chances that it may take some time for the technology to be developed correctly. As a result, we may see this in the Apple iPhone 17 or later models.

The Apple iPhone 14 is available for just 46,990 on Flipkart

The iPhone 14 was launched in September last year along with the iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The real issue with the iPhone 14 is its resemblance to its predecessor, the iPhone 13.

 Apple

The Apple iPhone 13 is available on Apple’s website at a price of ₹69,990 but on the other hand, on Flipkart, interested buyers can purchase the iPhone 14 for just ₹46,990. Here’s how.

Flipkart reduced the price of the iPhone 14 from ₹79,990 to ₹73,990, essentially a discount of ₹6000. Flipkart is offering a ₹4000 instant discount on HDFC credit cards and along with that, it is offering a huge exchange offer of ₹23,000. After doing the maths on all these offers, the iPhone 14 is available at ₹46,990 only on Flipkart.

 Apple

iPhone 14 specifications

iPhone 14 comes with a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display and features a dual camera setup with a 12-megapixel main camera along with a 12-megapixel 120-degree ultrawide lens. It is powered by an A15 Bionic chipset and runs on iOS 16 but can be upgraded to iOS 16.2. The iPhone 14 has a 3,279mAh battery which can be charged to 50% in 30 mins, Apple claims.

The design of the iPhone 14 is very similar to the iPhone 13. The display and the notch are exactly the same as the iPhone 13 and even cases of the iPhone 13 can be used for the iPhone 14. But iPhone 14 is a little lighter in weight and has a very minor difference in thickness as compared to iPhone 13.
