Now that the world has been exposed to the sheer scope of OpenAi’s ChatGPT, the company has released a statement saying that they are planning to monetise the service. OpenAI may create a payment plan that is geared toward working professionals, allowing them to use its myriad services to enhance their professional output.

The company’s announcement says “We’re starting to think about how to monetize ChatGPT (early thinking, nothing official to share yet). Our goal is to continue improving and maintaining the service, and monetization is one way we’re considering to ensure its long-term viability. We’re interested in chatting with some folks for ~15 min to get some early feedback. If you’re interested in chatting, please fill out this form (takes ~10 min to fill out).”

OpenAi

What is ChatGPT Professional?

ChatGPT Professional is stated to be the monetised version of the app. One you click the link the company has shared, you will be taken to a waitlist that will eventually allow you to access the app. The form asks people what they would use it for, and how much they would be willing to pay.

The company elaborates “If you are selected, we’ll reach out to you to set up a payment process and a pilot. Please keep in mind that this is an early experimental program that is subject to change, and we are not making paid pro access generally available at this time.”

OpenAi

Will there still be a free version of ChatGPT?

The company has not made any promises about keeping the service free, so we can expect the whole thing to eventually become monetised. Or, they may offer a free service that has limited capabilities (or limited searches).

Apple will shift AirPods production to Hon Teng FIT

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo tweeted that the tech giant is planning to move the assembly of the Apple AirPods to Hon Teng (FIT), which is a subsidiary of the Hon Hai/Foxconn Group. Foxconn is also responsible for the production of Apple iPhones, though it’s important to know that they are not solely responsible for the same. Apple iPhones are being manufactured in India, and the brand plans to scale production this year.

(3/5) My latest survey indicates that Hon Teng (FIT) - a Hon Hai/Foxconn Group subsidiary - may be set to take over from Goertek as the new supplier for AirPods assembly. This move will bring significant benefits for Hon Teng.

— 郭明錤 (Ming-Chi Kuo) (@mingchikuo) January 12, 2023 Apple will let Hon Teng assemble Apple AirPods

According to Kuo, with the move, Apple will be able to ensure that the new generation of the Apple AirPods may start shipping out by the second half of 2024, or the first half of 2025. The Apple Airpods may be priced at $99 (which is around ₹8,079.84). Hon Teng and Luxshare ICT will assemble the new Apple AirPods Max.

Kuo also added that the assembly of the Apple Airpods and other projects such as Hon Hai's EV business/MIH Consortium will end up being two major growth drivers for the company in the coming years. This means that Hon Teng will be a company to watch out for in the future.

Apple

Apple will also manufacture its own chips

In other news, Apple is also gearing up to manufacture its own in-house chips and will be phasing out Qualcomm slowly. The company is also developing its own OLED displays to decrease the reliance on third-party companies such as Samsung Display. Its first micro-LED display is rumoured to be in an upcoming Apple Watch series.
