Budget 2023 could make these 3 tech products cheaper
Budget 2023 has been announced by the Union Minister of Finance, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman. So, you may be wondering what’s cheaper, and what’s costlier. Well, 3 technology products that could be cheaper going forward are mobile phones, TV, and EVs.
Here’s what you need to know about Budget 2023 from a technology standpoint:
Cheaper tech products after Budget 20231. Mobile Phones
The government has announced cuts in customs duty on the import of certain items used in mobile phone manufacturing. Meanwhile, the previous relaxations in customs duty on the camera lens and parts of the camera module used in modern phones are being carried on for one more year.
2. Televisions
In the custom duty rate changes (Section C.1 of the Indian Budget 2023-2024 PDF), there is mention of a 2.5-per cent reduction in basic customs duty on parts of open cells of TV panels.
3. EVs
This budget also keeps the customs duty on “specified capital goods/machinery for manufacture of lithium-ion cells” that is used within electric cars and other electric vehicles.
In her speech, Smt. Sitharaman also attributes the Phased Manufacturing programme and other government initiatives to the growth in mobile phone production in India from 5.8 crore units (~18,900 crores in value) in 2014-15 to 31 crore units (more than 2,75,000 crores in value) in 2022-23.
She envisions the new tax cuts in Budget 2023 could act as a tailwind for the respective product categories and sectors.

5 alternatives to Apex Legends now that EA has shut down the game
Respawn Entertainment, the makers of Apex Legends, has announced that the game will shut down. The game is no longer available on app stores and along with that in-game purchases have also been halted. Users who spent their real-world money in Apex Legends won’t get refunds.
The reason behind the shutdown of Apex Legends has not been revealed yet, but some users described the loopholes of games as well as the foundation was not strong enough, anti-cheat was non-existent, servers, customs, events, and tournaments never organised by the company and the in-game pricing was too much.
“As of 1 PM PST today, January 31st, we will be disabling all real money in-app purchases in the game as well as removing the game from web stores. During this period, players can spend their existing Syndicate Gold and continue playing the full game. — Steve H.McFly (@OnLeaks) January 31, 2023 Nothing Ear 2 renders leakedAs you can see in the images above, the position of the noise-cancelling microphones has been changed. They are moved to the front on Ear 2. ANC performance could get a bump, not just because of this but also for the following reasons:
3 Nothing Ear 2 earbuds features (Rumoured) 1. Personalized ANCThis was the feature we were talking about above. The rumour is that the Nothing Ear 2 will allow the user to control the level of active noise cancellation. Now whether this means more ambient awareness at lower levels of ANC is something to be seen.
2. Dual connectivityNothing Ear 2 is rumoured to sport dual connectivity, otherwise called Bluetooth multipoint, which would let the buds simultaneously connect to two devices.
3. Advanced EQA feature generally found on most earbuds could finally be available on Nothing Ear 2. The users could be able to calibrate the equalizer to match their taste.
