Vivo Y56 launched in India on February 17 at ₹19,990. It comes in a single 8+128GB model only but it has multiple competitors in the market, one of which is the Redmi Note 12 with a similar price tag of ₹19,999 for the 6+128GB variant. The Redmi phone, however, is available in more than one memory configuration. But, it’s only by comparing the two phones side by side, that we will be able to gauge which one makes more sense for your buck.

Vivo Y56 compared against Redmi Note 12 on 5 parameters

Redmi Note 12 5G

1. Design

Vivo Y56 is available in Orange Shimmer and Black Engine colours. The company has used frosted anti-glare AG Glass back on the Y56. On the other hand, there is Redmi Note 12, which is out in Frosted Green and Matte Black colours.

The camera rings on the Vivo phone are much more prominent than that of the Redmi Note 12’s.

Vivo Y56’s waterdrop notch on the front looks dated compared to the punch hole cutout on the Redmi phone.

Vivo Y56 uses Schott Xensation Up protection while Redmi Note 12 has got Gorilla Glass 3. Redmi also offers IP53 dust and splash resistance which Vivo seems to have missed.

2. Display

Redmi Note 12 5G

Vivo Y56 is powered by a 7nm MediaTek Dimensity 700 5G (2.2GHz) chipset, whereas Redmi Note 12 runs on a 6nm Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 (2GHz) processor.

Although Vivo has got a solo 8GB RAM variant, the Extended RAM 3.0 facility increases the virtual memory to 16GB in total.

Redmi offers two RAM choices, viz. 4GB and 6GB.

Both phones offer an expandable storage option, in case you need it.

4. Battery and charging

Vivo Y56 is carrying a 5000mAh battery with 18W wired charging support. While its battery size is the same, Redmi outpaces Vivo with a faster 33W wired charging solution.
