Sony announces its PlayStation Plus free games for the month of May

Well, we’re in for a bit of a stinker in May. Sony has just announced its lineup of free games for PS Plus subscribers and let me tell you, it’s not looking good. The past few months have seen a bit of a downturn in terms of the quality of games on the basic PS Plus tier. If I were a betting man, I’d speculate that this is Sony’s way of making players pay for the Extra and Premium tiers. There has been a wide range of excellent games on the higher tiers including the Uncharted series, God of War, Arkham Asylum and much more. The company even added the new Wolfenstein games to the catalogue as well. But, if you’re one of the ‘plebs’ who’ve only bought the basic PS Plus tier, you’ll be treated to classics such as GRID Legends, Chivalry 2 and Descenders.

PlayStation 5

If you’re into medieval games and such, maybe Chivalry 2 will get you going, but as far as a good lineup of games, this month isn’t it. As we mentioned above, the past few months have seen a dry spell of good games from the service. But, in the interest of all involved, let’s take a brief look at the free games that will be available in May on PS Plus. GRID Legends looks to be some kind of racing simulator without the charm or charisma of a game like Gran Turismo. It looks like it plays well enough but it isn’t something that is going to change the world. Slash your way through waves of enemies in Chivalry 2 and pretend to be in the X-Games in Descenders.

If you haven't downloaded or claimed the last month’s free games, you have until May 1 to do so. These games include Sackboy: A Big Adventure, Meet Your Maker and Tails of Iron. As we’ve mentioned above, if you opt for the Extra and Premium tiers of the subscription, you’ll receive access to a much larger selection of quality games. So, the question is, do you have the cash to upgrade or are you happy with your current subscription?

Apple working on emotion measuring tech, health services with advanced AI

In the area of health and wellness, Apple Inc. is renowned for its revolutionary products and services. The business has a history of developing tools and apps that aid in tracking health and even saving lives. Apple is currently expanding the capabilities of AI once more.

According to reports, the corporation is working on technologies for measuring emotions as well as a new health counselling service powered by artificial intelligence. With the help of these new capabilities, users will be able to take a more detailed and individualised strategy for their health and well-being.

Apple is ready to launch a new coaching service codenamed Quartz, says Bloomberg report. The service will primarily work on motivating users to exercise and prompt healthy eating habits and sleep cycles. The fundamental idea of working on this program is to establish a combination of machine learning and data to build a personalised training program for individual users. However, these announcements are yet to be released and can be anticipated in the coming week.

Apple has announced plans to create an innovative health coaching service as part of a larger initiative to integrate health features into all of its products, including the Apple Watch. The business's most recent initiatives in this regard include bringing health software to the iPad and adding capabilities that can help users with eyesight issues.

Apple

However, Apple's new internal service will have a monthly cost and have an app of its own. The effort is being led by a number of Apple departments, including the company's services division, health, Siri, and AI teams. Although the service is now scheduled for next year, it could eventually be cancelled or delayed.

A version of Apple's iPhone health software for the iPad is allegedly also being planned, enabling users to examine their health information, such as ECG findings, in an expanded format. Later this year, iPadOS 17 is expected to include this modification. In medical facilities, wherein tablets are already commonly used, the iPad's rendition of the health app is intended to improve the app's appeal.

According to the source, Apple may update its health app this year with additional features for treating vision disorders, including nearsightedness and tracking emotions. Users of the emotion tracker's first iteration will be able to record their moods, provide answers to questions about their days, and monitor their progress over time. Apple plans to utilise algorithms in the future to infer a user's mood from their speech, their written words, and other information on their devices.

In June, during Apple's annual Worldwide Developers Conference, it's expected to introduce a new iPad app as well as tools for controlling vision and emotion. The training service won't be revealed this year, though. The company's planned mixed-reality headgear, which includes features like meditation and an optimised variant of Apple's Fitness+ fitness service, will also play a part in its well-being and health agenda.

WhatsApp rolls out new features for groups and companion devices

The most demanded feature is now available, along with a few more new features on the chat platform WhatsApp, owned by Meta. Up to five phones can each utilize the same WhatsApp account.

Similar to how you connect WhatsApp on web browsers, tablets, and desktops, you connect every additional phone. Your messages, media, and phone conversations will all remain end-to-end encrypted since each paired phone establishes its own separate connection to WhatsApp.

Additionally, as a security measure, you will be immediately signed out of all partner devices if your main phone is dormant “for a long period." The global rollout of this update is now underway for all users. The rollout will be finished "in the upcoming weeks."

In addition, rather than having to scan a QR code, you may input your phone number on WhatsApp Web to get a one-time code that you can apply on your phone to enable device connection. Currently, this is just available on WhatsApp Web, but "more companion devices in the future" are promised.

According to reports, WhatsApp is introducing a group feature for group administrators to allow them to control how they authorize new members. It surely helps group admins make sure that only desirable individuals are added to the group.

WhatsApp features

When this feature is activated, new members must be accepted by a group admin ahead of them joining the group, regardless of whether they received a group invite link, by looking at the "Pending participants" area, claims WABetaInfo, the WhatsApp tracker.

When the feature is turned off, anybody is able to join a group by clicking an invite link without contacting the admin privately. According to the study, in the past, this posed a severe problem for community administrators because it may result in unwanted messages asking the administrator to be included in the subgroup that they manage.

WhatsApp is also developing a brand-new one-to-many mechanism for information dissemination dubbed "Channels" in the meantime. Users will find it simple to get helpful updates from the sources they select with the channels function. The function is currently being created and scheduled to be included in the next app version.

In order to accommodate channels, WhatsApp plans to change the Status tab to "Updates" in this portion of the app. A WhatsApp Channel is a confidential tool where users' phone numbers and other details are always kept secret.
