Gran Turismo trailer shows us that video game movies are here to stay

Well, gentlemen, it looks like video game movies are back on the menu. With the blazing success of Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros movie, having crossed the $1 billion mark at the box office, it is clear that there is a market for video game adaptations if done right. Fans have been starved of good video game adaptations for decades now and it's only now that we have films that gamers actually want to see. And unlike the droll and tedious Last of Us Tv show, Super Mario Bros was a celebration of everything Mario and it worked. Nintendo didn’t need to shove in ideological messaging for its film to be successful, unlike The Last of Us which literally jammed all its ‘progressive’ ideas down our throats and still failed as a basic TV show. On the other hand, we have Neil Blomkamp’s Gran Turismo which actually looks like fun.

Gran Turismo set to release in August

One would think the film would be about some kind of race but surprisingly, it actually focuses on the game itself. It turns the game into a tournament where driving sim fans can enter and win. If anything this film plays like fan-favourite The Wizard and forges a new story for anyone looking to get into driving sims. It’s a novel idea that could work and judging by the fan reaction to the trailer, it looks to be all positive. The film is also based on a true story. It adapts the story of Jann Mardenborough, who is a superfan of Gran Turismo and charts his journey from winning local competitions to actually turning it into a full-fledged racing career.

Directed by visionary Neil Blomkamp, we can expect a ton of cool effects and exciting car chases. The film stars Archie Madekwe, David Harbour, Orlando Bloom, Djimon Hounsou and Geri Halliwell and could well be the second video game adaptation this year to appeal to actual gamers and normies alike. The film is set to release sometime in August this year.

Google Pixel Buds A-series colour, expected specs, price: Exciting enough

With Google I/O around the corner, eagerly awaited devices like the Pixel 7a, Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet are expected to finally be officially revealed. Except for these mobile devices, excitement is building for the Pixel Buds A-series 2023 edition as well. Before it could be officially launched, leaks have already suggested its colour and certain specification.

Let's look into the colour and certain specifications that the leaks have revealed about the Google Pixel Buds A-series 2023.

Leaked colour of the Pixel Buds A-series 2023:

Some of the marketing images were leaked of the upcoming Pixel Buds A-series. According to these pictures, the earbuds have a pale blue colour which can also be termed as light blue.

Earlier in March there were leaks about the same earbuds but now the leaks have provided a better insight and clearer pictures. Also, something to be noted is that, the Pixel Buds A colour has been tried to match up with the Arctic Blue colour of Pixel 7a.

Leaked specifications of the Pixel Buds A-series

According to the leaks, apparently there isn't much of a change in the specifications of the 2023 edition of Pixel Buds A-series TWS earbuds compared to its predecessor, the A-series that was launched in 2021. They have just made a new colour out of it, according to reports. Take these reports with a pinch of salt, as Google may pull a proverbial rabbit out of the hat and surprise everyone while launching the Pixel Buds A-series, fingers crossed.

If we talk about specifications, keeping in mind the previous A-series buds, then they are expected to have a great touch panel, it sits very comfortably in the ear unlike the Pixel Buds Pro and a good hold of the spatial audio.

However, the Pixel Buds A-series might come with some cons as well, according to early online sentiment. Certain reports claim that these buds may exhibit some of the same flaws of the 2021 model with respect to performance, however not having tested these hitherto unreleased TWS earbuds we will refrain from making any definitive value judgement about their overall performance.

How do you think the Pixel Buds A-series TWS earbuds perform? Let us know in the comments below, while we get to the expected pricing of these earbuds.

Leaked price of Pixel Buds A-series

According to the leaks, these buds will be priced the same as the previous model of 2021. That comes for about $99. In India the launch price was about ₹10,000 but at this point of time the price has gone down to around ₹6,000 as well. So, hopefully the launch price for the new buds will be around ₹10,000, which might get heavily discounted soon after.

To know more about all the necessary details of the Pixel Buds A-series, we'll have to wait for it to officially launch at the Google I/O.

Nintendo looking at adding more feature films, thrilled with the success of Super Mario Bros

It looks like the Super Mario Bros film could be the first to hit a billion dollars in 2023. The film was a fun romp through the history of Mario and featured all our favourite characters on screen. It also really helped that the film did not have any woke messaging and instead focused on giving fans exactly what they want. Reports suggested that Illumination wanted to infect the film with ‘The Message’ but were held back by Shigeru Miyamoto of Nintendo who felt that any change made by an ideological activist company would destroy the goodwill Nintendo had built up over decades. The move was a smart one as the film is set to dominate the box office.

Mario

Super Mario Bros crosses $1 billion at the box office

Critics also hated the film, mostly stemming from their loathing of star Chris Pratt and found every excuse in the book to put the film down. But, all it did was affirm to fans that this was the film for them. The lack of progressive messaging and a ton of fan service has led the film to really take over. Critics hated the fact that the film was just a straight-up children’s film without degenerate messaging.

Nintendo, on the other hand, seems to be very happy with the film’s success and is looking at releasing more movies from their large roster of characters. We could even get a Metroid film? One can only hope. But, for now, the success of Super Mario Bros has opened up the doors at Nintendo. In a statement to the media, Shigeru Miyamoto stated, “There are many possible ways we could go, such as using characters that would be fit for movies, or very well-known characters.”. Here’s to hoping we get more films just like Super Mario Bros.

Samsung bans use of ChatGPT and Google Bard, will create their own generative AI tools

Samsung reportedly sent a memo on Monday prohibiting the usage of ChatGPT in one of the company's largest departments. According to a Samsung internal paper that Bloomberg has referred to, the business is worried regarding the way artificial intelligence programmes notably ChatGPT and Google Bard manage information about users.

After staff members unintentionally exposed private information to ChatGPT, Samsung reportedly implemented an internal prohibition on generative AI tools. The South Korean IT giant reportedly acted after learning that one of its employees had posted confidential source code to the AI portal.

The company also points out that data supplied to AI platforms is maintained on other servers, making it challenging to access and remove, and as a result, may end up being made public to other users. The company recently ran a survey internally which suggested that 65% security threats are generated with these AI tools.

“Interest in generative AI platforms such as ChatGPT has been growing internally and externally,” the tech enterprise told its employees. The organisation added, “While this interest focuses on the usefulness and efficiency of these platforms, there are also growing concerns about security risks presented by generative AI”. A Samsung representative confirmed that a memo was sent last week.

Samsung's new policy prohibits employees from utilising generative AI software on their own phones, tablets, PCs, or internal network. Naturally, the policy has no impact on Samsung's customers. In fact, the SwiftKey keyboard integration has made the ChatGPT-powered BingAI a crucial component of Samsung phones. OneUI comes preconfigured with the new Bing AI in Microsoft's SwiftKey keyboard.

“We ask that you diligently adhere to our security guidelines and failure to do so may result in a breach or compromise of company information resulting in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment,” read the memo that was circulated to the staff.

There have been reports floating around that suggest that Samsung is developing its own AI capabilities for software development, document translation, and summarization. These tools appear to only be available for usage within the firm. It's unclear whether Samsung will offer any consumer-facing generative AI products. At least for the time being, the corporation has made no such declaration.

WhatsApp to introduce Side-by-Side Chats for easy chat switching

According to reports, WhatsApp is examining an experimental feature for users of Android tablets. Users will be able to switch between several chats at once without losing track of the ongoing conversations. It will resemble what WhatsApp for Web already offers in terms of appearance.

The feature is still being evaluated among a small group of beta testers, but a stable release is anticipated soon. We're sure to learn about an iPad version of a comparable function in the near future because WhatsApp develops new features and improvements practically concurrently for Android and iOS devices.

According to a recent claim from WhatsApp feature monitor website WABetaInfo, the social media network is introducing a side-by-side mode that would let users read and access numerous chats on one screen.

Similar to the WhatsApp for Web interface, each live chat will be displayed simultaneously in a split-screen format. Users who frequently need to access numerous chats at once will find this useful, and it also allows them greater control over the app's layout.

According to a screenshot included in the aforementioned claim, customers will be presented with a toggle switch that will allow them to switch between enabling and disabling the feature as needed.

To access the feature, just follow through WhatsApp Settings > Chats > Side-by-side views.

Only a few beta users who are using WhatsApp for Android 2.23.9.20 are currently able to access this feature. According to the source, future upgrades will progressively push out a more secure version of the feature to all Android device users.
