Primebook 4G vs Lenovo IdeaPad 3 Chromebook: Which one makes more sense

Primebook 4G and Lenovo IdeaPad 3 Chromebook are two of the laptops priced at ₹15,990 on Flipkart. Here, we compare them both to see which one should you buy. More importantly, should you buy an Android laptop over a Chromebook?

For the purposes of this article, we will be calling both of them laptops only (which they technically are).

1. Design

Lenovo IdeaPad 3 Chromebook

Lenovo IdeaPad 3 Chromebook

Both laptops come in black colour. Even though Primebook is classified as a thin and light laptop (281 X 192 X 19.3 mm, 1.065 Kg), both of them are lightweight machines. The dimensions of the Lenovo laptop are 286.7 x 205.5 x 18.05 mm and it weighs 1.12 Kg.

Primebook offers a customisable keyboard and touchpad support.

2. Internals

Both Lenovo and Primebook claim up to 10 hours of battery life.

Lenovo equips the Chromebook with a 45W USB-C charger. Primebook has got a 24W charger in comparison.

Lenovo IdeaPad 3 Chromebook runs on an Intel Celeron Dual Core processor (N4020) clocked at up to 2.8 GHz frequency. Meanwhile, the Primebook laptop has a MediaTek Kompanio 500 (MT8788) processor inside. It has a max frequency of up to 2.0 GHz.

The Lenovo laptop has an Intel-integrated UHD graphics card whereas the Primebook ships with MediaTek integrated ARM Mali G72 GPU.

Both Primebook and Lenovo offer 4GB LPDDR4 RAM and 64GB of EMMC storage. While Primebook supports up to 200GB of expandable storage, Lenovo also comes with micro SD card reader support.

3. Ports

When it comes to connectivity, with the IdeaPad 3 Chromebook, you get 2x USB-C (3.2 Gen 1 with support for Power Delivery and DisplayPort), a 3.5mm headphone jack, and 2x USB-A (3.2 Gen 1) ports, dual-band WiFi ac, and Bluetooth 4.2.

The Primebook laptop gives you 2x USB-A (one of them 2.0 and the other 3.0 standard) ports, mini HDMI, a 3.5mm jack, dual-band WiFi ac and Bluetooth 5.0.

4. Display

Lenovo has outfitted its laptop with an 11.6-inch HD TN panel (1366x768) with 250 nits of brightness. Primebook also has an HD screen that stretches 11.6 inches.

Above the display, both laptops feature a 720P webcam.

5. Software

Lenovo tells you it’s packing ChromeOS in the name. On the other hand, Primebook is carrying Android-based PrimeOS.

PrimeOS is an indigenous operating system that comes with 10,000+ Android apps, MDM (Mobile Device Management with parental lock and usage restrictions), etc. This coupled with 4G connectivity gets you a laptop that is aimed at a seamless transition for an Android phone user. Well, Chromebook also makes a similar pitch and has been in the market for a longer period. It is equipped with a Google Play Store to download Android apps as you want.

iPhone 15 Ultra mockup unboxed revealing USB-C port and other new details

We are still some months away from the Apple iPhone 15 launch event, and there are already a lot of details we know about the iPhone 15 series due to leaks and rumours. Now, Lew from Unbox Therapy has shown off an iPhone 15 Ultra mockup that corroborates many of the supposed changes and features of the upcoming iPhone model.

5 iPhone 15 Ultra features that we expect to see so far

1. iPhone 15 Ultra could come with a brushed metal look on the side frame and a matte finish at the back. This could lend more grip to the phone. Since the new iPhone will be thicker compared to an iPhone 14 Pro Max, the grippy back could help in handling it better. The thickness could also mean the protrusion of the back camera rings would be less obvious and there will be more space for the battery inside.

iPhone 15 Ultra

2. Bowing to the mounting pressures from the EU and other government regulations, Apple could finally equip an iPhone with USB-C and that is apparent in the iPhone 15 Ultra mockup too.

Compared to a lightning female port, the cavity has a slim pin in the centre.

Now, not every USB-C cable would be fully compatible with the new iPhones as Apple is reportedly integrating a chip into the port that checks for MFI-certified cables. Only cables of this kind could support fast charging and optimum data speeds.

Opposing this EU has brought a new mandate however the same will be in action a couple of years from now.

iPhone 15 Ultra

3. The mute switch is now a button, at least it’s so in the iPhone 15 Ultra mockup. This appears to be in application like the action button on the Apple Watch Ultra.

4. The bezels, as per Lew, are half of what is on the iPhone 14 Pro Max. For symmetry, the corners have also been shrunk. Dynamic Island is also more noticeable because of the resulting larger screen-to-body ratio.

5. Meanwhile, inside the iPhone 15 Ultra, we could expect A17 Bionic based on a 5nm manufacturing process.

Finally, for the iPhone 15 Pro series pricing, we rely on a few sources other than Lew’s video which tells us to expect a $100 hike. That could result in the iPhone 15 Pro's price being $1,099 and the Pro Max’s pricing being $1,199.

Only time will tell how much of these speculations turn out to be true. We’ll keep you posted.

Realme 11 Pro+ unboxing video is here: Dont miss this fresh look at the phone

Realme 11 Pro+ unboxing video has surfaced ahead of the May 11 launch. This shows the Realme 11 Pro Plus’ fresh design. Although this isn’t anything unbeknownst at this point thanks to leaks and the company’s own reveal through renders, the leaked video gives a closer look at the real thing. Here it is:

Realme 11 Pro+ unboxing video

In the video, we only get to see the handset and its design. The person who unboxed the Realme 11 Pro+, doesn’t show the accessories and other box contents.

Coming back to that design, the Realme 11 Pro Plus has got a round camera island with one sensor in the middle and the rest two on its left and right sides. There is a flashlight sensor at the top. Surrounding the central lens, there is a disc-like shiny circular track.

You can see the 200MP camera branding. More on that later.

— Cmei (@Cmeitech) May 2, 2023

The camera mesa is surrounded by a stitched faux leather material. A zip-like joint is present in the middle as if it joins the two sides of the leather wear. The leather portion has an off-shade white with a hint of cream and the zip portion and the side frames of the device have a golden shade.

As you may have heard already, the Realme 11 Pro+ design is made by an ex-Gucci designer. And I, for one, am bewitched by the unique look it has. Granted, we are yet to see and experience the phone in the flesh.

The phone is set to go official on May 10 in China and should come to India and other markets soon.

When it does, here’s what we are expecting the phone to bring:

Realme 11 Pro+ specs and features

Realme 11 Pro+

Realme 11 Pro Plus could come with a 6.7-inch FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display, MediaTek Dimensity 7050 processor, up to 12GB of RAM, up to 256GB of internal storage, a 5,000mAh battery with 67W wired charging support, a 200MP (main)+8MP (ultrawide)+2MP (macro) triplet on the back and a 16MP selfie shooter.

No more fraud calls, thanks to TRAIs AI-based spam call filter: How it will work

Nobody likes to indulge in spam and unnecessary calls. Apps like Truecaller and its Live Caller ID are great options for detecting and avoiding these spam and fraud calls. But these calls have increased so much in the recent past that the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has decided to take some measures to cut down on this nuisance for consumers.

AI is coming to the aid of Indian telecom operators, thanks to TRAI’s intervention. TRAI has decided to count on AI in help filtering calls and totally avoid the ones which come from any loan agencies, credit card companies or any other annoying calls that have a tendency to disturb you at unwanted times.

From May 1, TRAI has taken the initiative of reaching out to all the telcos like Jio, Airtel, Vi, asking them to take the help of AI to get rid of the spam and fraud calling menace. Let’s look into the detailed mechanism of how it works.

TRAI Why is the AI-Based Spam Call Filter required?

Lately you will hear everyone complaining about the unnecessary calls they receive at the wrong time always. Also, we can't disregard the fact that these calls also have led to fraudulent activities, scams and hacks as well. People have lost a huge sum of money or private information because of such calls. So, TRAI has taken it very seriously now to eliminate this completely for the protection of Indian telecom users.

How does AI-Based Spam Call Filter work?

The AI tool used by TRAI will detect the call and compare from earlier records whether this number has created nuisance for its users or not and then block the numbers so that you don't receive any calls or SMS from them ever again. They also investigate when you receive a SMS from an unknown number.

In the upcoming days TRAI will also look into implementation of Caller ID that will come up with the name and photo of the caller on your screen. Airtel and Jio have already been working on this regulation and will implement it for their users very soon.

How will AI Spam Call Filter help Indian telecom users?

Well, it is beneficial if you look into the fact that it will help you avoid spam calls and also not let such calls or SMS reach you when you are busy. But, there is a con to this. For getting the details when you receive a call, the telcos will be collecting all your data, so that definitely raises privacy and security concerns. Jio and Airtel have raised this with TRAI, and hopefully soon there will be a solution to this concern as well.

It is just the beginning of implementation of AI in the Indian telecom sector for spam and fraud detection calls. If this is taken seriously and planned well this will definitely turn out to be very useful but also hopefully, TRAI and the telcos will consider the several user privacy concerns before implementing their final solution.

Reno10, Reno10 Pro, Reno10 Pro+ will have one major design change

Upper-midrange smartphones from Oppo in the Reno10 series will soon be available. According to the company's typical biannual release schedule for the Reno range, the Reno10, Reno10 Pro, and Reno10 Pro+ should go on sale in the coming weeks.

As a result, more leaks are beginning to appear than before. CAD-based renderings of the Reno10 Pro are available today. In comparison to their predecessors, which were released in China last year, the Reno10 phones appear to have a fresh rear design.

The Reno10 Pro will have a screen size of 6.7 inches with the centred hole-punch notch for the selfie snapper that you observe in the renders, citing the source of the pictures. The device reportedly has dimensions of 163.2 x 74.2 x 7.9 mm.

The amplifier grille and USB-C connector are located on the bottom. The volume and power buttons appear to be located on the right side of the device, where Oppo has traditionally liked to place them. The launch of the Reno10 series could impact that, or perhaps the renderings are inaccurate. We can only wait and observe.

Previous rumours claim that the MediaTek Dimensity 8200 SoC, a minor upgrade from the 8100 seen in the Reno9 Pro, will power the Reno10 Pro.
