WhatsApp has been recently bringing in a lot of updates like- Chat transfer without Google Drive, Keep in Chat, Chat-lock, group and companion devices using the same WhatsApp, side-by-side chats and so on. But these were majorly for WhatsApp Beta version for Android phones.
Now WhatsApp is bringing a new feature for the beta version of WhatsApp Web. This is still under testing, but this feature will allow users to edit messages that they have already sent. Yes, you read that right! This feature is available for just a few WhatsApp beta users at the moment and if it's a success, then it will definitely be rolled out to all users. So, what is the feature all about and how does it work? Let's have a look at that…
Edit Message feature of WhatsAppThis feature will allow you to edit any message that you have already sent to someone on WhatsApp. As of now the editing will be possible only for a certain period of time, just like earlier the ‘delete for everyone’ option was available only for a certain time period. As of now in the beta version of WhatsApp Web, a message can be edited within the next 5 minutes – not just once, but multiple times within that time window.
This reminds us of the time iOS 16 was launched and it came with the feature of editing texts within the next 15 minutes of sending a text on the Messaging app, but there was a limitation of five edits only.
Tips reveal that the feature will soon be available for the WhatsApp Beta users for Android and iOS. Also, once you edit a message the receiver gets a notification about the same. The testing is on and hopefully it will be rolled out to all users soon.
Now, after the testing is conducted smoothly and the pros and cons of the feature are looked into only then it will be first available to all beta users and further on to all users. So, still there is enough time for the feature to reach you.
