Recently, Realme launched the Realme 2, at a starting price of Rs 8,990 in India. This is the company’s first phone after it got separated from Oppo and second smartphone overall. At the end of the launch event, Madhav Sheth, Chief Executive Officer of Realme India, teased another smartphone that the company may launch in September. By the looks of the teaser, we could derive that Realme will launch a high-end version of the smartphone which will be called, the Realme 2 Pro. Sheth later confirmed to The Mobile Indian, “We are going to launch Realme 2 Pro within a month. It will be priced a bit higher than Realme 1 but less than Rs 20,000. The smartphone will come with best of the processor and best of design,” the executive was quoted as saying. The news platform also claims that the company will launch Realme 2 Pro on September 28. Sheth also said that the Realme 2 is not an upgrade to Realme 1 and is a different smartphone altogether aimed at a different target audience. The executive also noted that the company will launch the 4GB and 6GB variants of the Realme 1 in near future. On opting for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor in Realme 2, Sheth said that the company chose to use the chipset because “it is currently the best chipset with this price range.” “The same processor is used in smartphones that are priced up to Rs 22,000,” he added. On Android P update, Sheth said that all Realme smartphones will be upgraded to Android 9.0 Pie and the Realme 2 will be updated to Android P in early next year. The Realme 2 (First Impressions) was launched for a price of Rs 8,990 for the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant. The the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage model is priced at Rs 10,990. The Diamond Black and Diamond Red colours of the Realme 2 will be exclusively available on Flipkart from September 4 noon while the Diamond Blue will be available by early October. Realme 2 specifications The Realme 2 features a 6.2-inch HD+ display with a notch and 19:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone’s screen-body ratio is 88.8 percent which the company claims is one of the highest in this price segment. Realme 2 features the second generation of the diamond-cutting design and is made up of a scratch resistant 12-layer nano-tech composite material. There is a dual-camera and a fingerprint sensor on the back. The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 Octa-core processor and have Adreno 506 GPU. The Realme 2 has a built-in AI Gaming Acceleration which boosts the performance during gaming sessions. Both the variants have triple-slot, so customers can use two 4G SIM cards and one SD card. The Realme 2 packs a 4,230mAh battery with AI Power Master technology that smartly allocates resources for apps running in the foreground and in the background. Realme claims that the AI can reduces overall power consumption in between 5-11 percent without compromising the operations. In the camera department, Realme has incorporated dual-cameras on the back with a 13MP main camera and a 2MP secondary lens setup. The front shooter has an AI-powered 8MP lens that intelligently recognises 296 facial points and accordingly gives customised beauty effects, even in a group selfie. The Realme 2 comes with an enhanced user interface ColorOS 5.1 atop Android 8.1 OS.
