The JioPhone 2 will be put up for purchase by Reliance Jio for the fourth time since its launch. The JioPhone 2, unlike the first JioPhone, is not an effectively free and those intending to purchase the phone will need to shell out Rs 2,999 on the spot. The phone will be available on September 12 at 12PM via Jio.com, but it is not an open sale so those interested should keep their trigger fingers ready. The highlight of the JioPhone 2 is its QWERTY keypad with four-way navigation key. Jio wanted to give users a horizontal display as opposed to the vertical one found on the first JioPhone. Here’s a quick look at the specs and recharge plans for the JioPhone 2. JioPhone 2 Specs and features The JioPhone 2 sports a 2.4-inch display and houses a QWERTY keypad with a four-way navigation key. The entry-level smart feature phone has 512MB RAM, coupled with 4GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 128GB using a micro-SD card. It is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor and in terms of optics, it comes with a 2MP rear camera and a 0.3MP front-facing sensor. It supports dual VoLTE SIM cards, runs on KAI OS and is powered by a 2,000mAh battery. In terms of connectivity, The JioPhone 2 supports VoLTE as well as Jio’s upcoming VoWiFi service, which will enable users to place phone calls using any public Wi-Fi. The phone also supports NFC, Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth Low Energy and will have an FM Radio built-in. Similar to the JioPhone, the JioPhone 2 also supports voice commands, so users can just press one button to open apps, send messages and much more. In terms of apps, the JioPhone 2 supports all of Jio's apps including JioMusic, JioCinema and others. The phone also supports Facebook, WhatsApp and YouTube apps. The phone also supports 22 Indian languages and comes with Google Assistant voice navigation. Buyers can also purchase the JioMediaCable separately if they wish to connect their phone to their TVs and watch videos on a bigger screen. JioPhone 2 recharge options Reliance Jio offers three plans for JioPhone users. The first JioPhone 2 plan is priced at Rs 48 with which users get unlimited calling, 1GB high-speed data, 50 free SMS, and access to Jio’s suite of apps for 28 days. The Rs 99 recharge plan for JioPhone 2 comes with 14GB of data, free calling, 300 SMS, along with access to Jio apps for 28 days. Finally, the Rs 153 plan from Jio offers free calling, 42GB of data, access to Jio apps, and unlimited SMS, again, for a validity of 28 days.
