Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme laptop with NVIDIA GeForce 1050Ti GPU announced at IFA 2018

Expanding its premium ThinkPad portfolio, Lenovo has launched the ThinkPad X1 Extreme laptop with a 15-inch form factor at IFA in Berlin. The Chinese giant claims that its the first laptop to come equipped with an NVIDIA graphics card and is designed for people who seek a thin and light Windows 10 laptop for high-performance computing. Lenovo claims that the laptop can deliver low latency immersive experiences with the NVIDIA GeForce 1050Ti GPU and is also compatible with leading virtual and mixed reality headsets. Lenovo says that the top cover structure including a core layer that absorbs shocks of the ThinkPad X1 Extreme is made up of four layers of reinforced carbon fiber. To dissipate the heat generated from the machine, it has incorporated a new aluminum alloy bottom cover that keeps the device cool. Starting at just 1.7kg, the X1 Extreme is said to be 12 percent lighter than the ThinkPad T580 and ships with a combination of 8th generation Intel Core processors, including the six-core Intel Core i9 (coming soon), up to 64GB of memory and dual PCIe SSD storage option with Raid 0/1 capability. The laptop comes fitted with far field microphones and Dolby Audio Premium, and is claimed to deliver up to 15 hours of battery life. Lenovo says that its Rapid Charge technology can charge X1 Extreme up to 80 percent in an hour. The touch screen laptop comes with voice control features with Cortana and Amazon Alexa. The ThinkPad X1 Extreme will be available from September starting at $1859. The ThinkPad X1 Extreme with Intel Core i9 processor will be available starting December.
