Samsung is set to launch its latest addition to the Galaxy smartphone, the Galaxy A7 (2018), on September 25 in India. The USP of the smartphone is that it is the first offering from the South Korean giant that will have three cameras on the rear panel. The company has already launched the device on its home turf and is bringing it to the country. The development comes a few days after it launched the Galaxy J4+ and the Galaxy J6+. “Samsung is committed to delivering meaningful innovation to all consumers across the Galaxy family, no matter who they are or where they are in the world. That’s why we’re excited to introduce innovative new features to the A series with the Galaxy A7, a practical but powerful device that is built to help make your everyday both convenient and extraordinary,” DJ Koh, President and CEO of IT and Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics, said while launching the smartphone in Korea. He also said that the smartphone will be available in select European and Asian markets from this fall and expand to additional markets in the near future. Samsung Galaxy A7 specs and features Samsung is expected to bring a few of its flagship features to the Galaxy A7 (2018). As mentioned, the smartphone will bring a three camera setup on the back. It has an 8MP 120 degree Ultra Wide Lens, a 24MP lens and a “Depth Lens” for Live Focus feature that will let users control the depth of field by allowing them to adjust the bokeh effect. Samsung claims that the Galaxy A7’s 24MP Lens automatically lets more light in by combining four pixels into one pixel in low light conditions. The camera also features Samsung’s intelligent Scene Optimizer that categorises the subject and adjusts the colour, contrast and brightness to optimise image quality. On the front is a 24MP camera with adjustable LED flash. It has features like Selfie Focus for bokeh selfies, Pro Lighting Mode, AR emoji and flattering filters. The smartphone features a 6-inch Super AMOLED display and supports Dolby Atmos sound technology. The phone runs on an unnamed SoC, which is clocked at 2.2GHz and is coupled with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The Galaxy A7 comes with a glass design, a side fingerprint sensor and may come in Blue, Black, Gold and Pink colours. The smartphone comes with company’s AI-powered virtual assistant Bixby, Samsung Pay and Samsung Health.
