Amazon has launched its much-awaited Fire TV Stick 4K streaming media stick and a new Alexa Voice Remote for a bundled price of Rs 5,999 in India. The Alexa Voice Remote, which features dedicated power, volume, and mute buttons can also be purchased separately for Rs 1,999. Amazon claims that the Fire TV Stick 4K is its most powerful streaming media stick and the first to support Dolby Vision and HDR10+. The Fire TV Stick 4K and the Alexa Voice Remote are now available for pre-order on Amazon.in and shipping for both will start on November 14 in India. The Alexa Voice Remote is also available for pre-order as a standalone remote on the company’s website. Amazon has also got users of older Fire TV Sticks covered and announced that Alexa on Fire TV, including far-field control, will also become available on all existing Fire TV devices in India via a software update slated to roll out starting November 14. “We’ve listened to our customers and pushed to deliver a higher performance Fire TV. The new quad-core processor delivers a fast and fluid experience and support for Dolby Vision and HDR10+ provides an amazing picture quality. It is a complete 4K solution our customers are looking for, all within a compact stick form factor. The team invented an entirely new antenna technology and combined that with a powerful 802.11ac Wi-Fi to optimize for the best possible 4K UHD streaming experience, even in congested network environments. Plus, the all-new Alexa Voice Remote lets you control your complete entertainment experience and use your voice to quickly find the content you want. Just say, ‘Alexa, find comedies’, or ‘Alexa, play The Grand Tour’,” Marc Whitten, Vice President, Amazon Fire TV, said in a statement. According to Amazon, the Fire TV Stick 4K is over 80 percent more powerful than “the best-selling” Fire TV Stick. It features a quad core processor clocked at 1.7GHz. With Alexa on Fire TV, customers can find, search and control movies, TV shows and apps with a press of a button on the remote. Users can pair Echo devices with the Fire TV for easy control of entertainment experiences using Alexa. The new Alexa Voice Remote combines bluetooth and multi-directional infrared technology, and is powered by the company’s proprietary cloud-based service. The remote allows users to power on compatible TVs as well. Further, the Alexa Voice Remote is compatible with all Fire TV devices available in India and can control power and volume on thousands of TVs, Amazon claims.
