It looks like the developers of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds or PUBG can’t catch a break. The guys over at Bluehole have now announced that the Platoon Event mode that was to happen this week has been cancelled due to a ‘critical error’. The developers noted that the event will not happen next week either, “but will return at a later date.” The event would have seen two teams of 50 players each battle it out in Erangel. This isn’t the only problem that the game is facing. A day before this announcement, the developers revealed that they would compensate all users who were facing issues with server connectivity and matchmaking. The developer announced that all players who log in by 5pm PDT on October 23 can claim a Black Beanie with Headphones item along with 20,000 BP. While Bluehole is running an initiative called ‘FixPUBG’ in order to fix bugs and issues within the game, problems like the aforementioned matchmaking issues. The issues came about with Update 22 for the PC version of the game and brought in a new region locking system. The idea being that the game would now automatically decide which server a player should be assigned to based on region. If a player is grouped with players from different regions, matchmaking would decide which region would be best to play on. However, instead of restricting players to their own region, Bluehole created a global matchmaking pool, causing pings ranging from 20 to 600 playing together. As a result, players who were pulled into far off regioned were getting killed by “desyncers”. PUBG also has another Halloween event lined up and hopefully, that event will go off without a hitch. Not much is known about the upcoming event and a shot teaser clip suggests that the company will add a bunch of new creepy clothing options such as clowns, nurses and more. We sincerely apologize for the negative experience caused by our recent server connectivity and matchmaking related issues. As compensation, we will be gifting all PC players the Black Beanie with Headphones item along with 20,000 BP. Log in to PUBG by 5pm PDT on Oct 23 to claim. pic.twitter.com/CW5L8nf25z — PUBG (@PUBG) October 18, 2018 PC Players: Unfortunately, this week's Event Mode has been cancelled due to a critical error. We apologize for any frustration or disappointment this has caused. Event Mode: Platoon will not be returning next week, but will return at a later date. — PUBG Help (@PUBG_help) October 19, 2018
