Google’s Fuschia operating system has been one of the biggest mysteries of the modern day mobile OS. It has been rumoured that Fuchsia would be the future of Android, replacing both Android and ChromeOS as a unified operating system. While Google hasn’t really said anything publicly about Fuchsia, it seems that the operating system has got other OEM partners on board. A new commit in the Fuchsia source code has revealed that Huawei has managed to boot the Zircon kernel on the Honor Play. The Zircon kernel is what will replace the existing Linux Kernel that Android is based on in the final version of FuchsiaOS. Fuchsia is far from being complete as per a report by XDA, but the new patch would allow the Honor Play and other Kirin 970 - powered devices to boot on the Zircon Kernel, making Huawei the first OEM to potentially have a Fuchsia compatible device. The FuchsiaOS is far from being complete but work on it has been proceeding slowly and steadily. Google had originally published a guide explaining what Fuchsia is. The documentation describes it as a “modular, capability-based operating system” which is not Linux or Linux based. Other than that, very little is known about the full extent of the OS’s capabilities. In fact, very little is known about how far the OS has been developed and when Google will announce it for the public or even show a working demo. For now, we continue to wait.
