If a couple of years ago someone told you that a China-based company called OnePlus would be the talk of the town in the world of smartphones, you’d probably laugh. Today however, OnePlus is one of the most talked about smartphone makers in the world and is looking to enter the TV market in December with the launch of their first TV. The company was founded in December 2013 and will celebrate its fifth anniversary in less than a month. To celebrate the fifth anniversary milestone, OnePlus will fly 6 lucky winners to the UK for an event. The company says that it is “an exclusive mystery experience in the United Kingdom”. Few details are known at this stage about what the winners will get to experience. But sadly, the contest isn’t for everyone. One of the rules states that “the winners must be from the European Union and be eligible to travel to the United Kingdom from early to mid December”. OnePlus will also sponsor the round-trip airplane tickets and a one-night hotel stay for the 6 lucky winners. Here are details of how you can enter if you are an EU citizen. To participate, users needs to create an original video featuring no one other than themselves. OnePlus wants to know your passion for speed. You don’t need to talk about the phone only. You can talk about the speed of anything under the sun, from tech, life, cars, anything. The key is to be creative. OnePlus is looking for its “most passionate users”. The last date for submitting your entry is Nov 30, 2018, 00:00 (12:00 am) CET. You can read more details on the OnePlus Forum here. If you are from an eligible country, then here are some rules for you. Rules: All entries submitted via YouTube must comply with YouTube’s community guidelines and Terms of Service. Any entry that fails to do so will be disqualified. YouTube is not sponsoring this contest and is not liable for any content or outcomes of the contest. We suggest you use English in your entry, but you're also free to use your native language, in landscape (horizontal) format, filmed in at least FullHD quality (although 4K is preferred) and should feature you. Entries must be submitted in this form: [HERE] We'll select 6 winners to join us in the event. Finalists will be asked to send their original video file to OnePlus via email. The winners must be from the European Union and be eligible to travel to the United Kingdom from early to mid December. This contest will close for entries on Nov 30, 2018, 00:00 (12:00 am) CET. If a winner is not eligible for travel on specific dates, the prizes will be awarded to a runner-up finalist. Winners will be announced on Dec 4. You must be 18 years or older to win OnePlus previously held a contest where it wanted its fans to name its upcoming TV. Entries for the contest ended on October 17. OnePlus recently launched the thunder purple variant of the OnePlus 6 in India. Apart from the colour, the specifications are the same as the OnePlus 6T. The Thunder Purple variant is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, which is coupled with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage. It sports a larger 6.41-inch Optic AMOLED display with a waterdrop notch and sports an in-display fingerprint sensor. The OnePlus 6T runs on OxygenOS 9.0.2, which is based upon Android 9.0 Pie and is backed by a bigger 3700 mAh battery. The company claims that the larger battery delivers 23 percent more runtime than OnePlus 6’s 3300mAh unit. In terms of optics, the OnePlus 6T comes equipped with a 16MP Sony IMX 519 sensor with a f/1.7 aperture and a 1.12-pixel pitch, which is paired with a 20MP Sony IMX376K sensor that measures the depth of field. On the front, it features a 16MP sensor for selfies. Both, the rear and the front cameras come with OIS and EIS for stabilisation. This time, OnePlus has added a dedicated ‘Nightscape’ mode for low-light photography. You can read our in-depth review of the OnePlus 6T here.
