If information circulating the internet is to be believed, then Samsung is planning to invest $40 million in Niantic. Niantic is the studio behind the successful Pokemon Go Augmented Reality game. It is speculated that the deal will be announced in the next few weeks and we will also see Niantic's games pre-loaded on Galaxy devices. The main focus of this deal will be on an exclusive Harry Potter game. Niantic's is currently working on a Harry Potter game titled, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. It isn’t clear whether the exclusive game for Samsung devices will be a reworked version of Harry Potter: Wizards Unite or a new Harry Potter game entirely. Sources close to the Inquirer have said that the deal will also include Niantic's location-based game Ingress. The source has also said that Pokémon Go won't be included in the deal between the two companies. According to the Inquirer, “While further details on the deal remain thin, it comes at a time when Niantic and Samsung are said to "desperate for each other". Niantic needs to raise money to support an IPO, while Samsung is "looking to differentiate itself from its smartphone competitors"”. Information circulating the internet also suggests that the Harry Potter game on mobile will use the Samsung S-Pen as a wand. So, it is possible that the game will be announced alongside the Note 10. Whether the game will be compatible with other Note devices will only be known when the game is announced. It is also possible that a wand free version may come on other Samsung devices. All this is speculation of course and there is no official information about any of this. It is however expected that the partnership will be officially announced before the year ends. This isn’t the only Harry Potter game in the works. In early October, footage of a Harry Potter RPG game leaked online. Information circulating the internet suggests that the game is a third person RPG set in a 19th Century version of the Harry Potter universe. Avalanche Software owned by Warner Bros has the rights to the Harry Potter games and it is possible that the studio is working on the title. Avalanche Software has a history of some decent games based on popular animated films. It is expected that the Harry Potter RPG game will be for the home consoles and the PC. You can read more about the Harry Potter game here. In other Harry Potter news, the sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them titled Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald hit theatres on November 18, 2018 to mixed reviews. Grindelwald, a character whose glimpses we have seen in the Harry Potter books has taken on the role as the main antagonist in the movie and is portrayed by Johnny Depp. The film delves into the relationship shared between Albus Dumbledore and Grindelwald.
