Highlights: Microsoft Surface Pro 6 launched at Rs 83,999. Microsoft Surface Laptop 2 launched at Rs 91,999. Both models come with 8th Gen Intel Core series CPUs. In a style most characteristic of the American technology giant, Microsoft has launched the Surface Pro 6 and the Surface Laptop 2 in India and simply tweeted about it. The two devices are updated versions of the 2017 models that launched in India last year. They both get updated 8th Gen Core series processors from Intel and an updated price list. The Surface Pro 6 and the Surface Laptop 2 are currently on sale on online and offline platforms, including Amazon.in. Microsoft promises 1.5 times more speed on the Surface Pro 6. The company also says the Intel 8th Gen Quad Core processor on the Surface Laptop 2 is 85 percent more powerful than its predecessor. "For users seeking to make new breakthroughs in 2019, Surface will be a perfect companion to bring their innovative ideas and thinking to life," commented Priyadarshi Mohapatra, the Country General Manager for Consumer and Devices at Microsoft India in a Microsoft news release. Microsoft has published the pricing of its latest generation of Surface devices, and by the looks of it, they're slightly dearer now. The Surface Pro 6 starts at Rs 83,999 (for a variant sporting Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, and a 128GB SSD) and goes all the way up to Rs 1,76,999 (for a variant having Intel Core i7, 16GB RAM, and a 512GB SSD). For comparison, the base variant of the 2017 Surface Pro currently sells for Rs 71,333 on Amazon.in. Microsoft didn't bring the variant with the weaker Core m3 processor to India the first time around and hasn't done it this time either, which is good news for all of us. The Microsoft Surface Laptop 2 starts at Rs 91,999 (for a variant featuring Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, and a 128GB SSD) and goes all the way up to Rs 2,03,999 (for a variant offering Intel Core i7, 16GB RAM, and a 512GB SSD). For comparison, the base variant of the first-gen Surface Laptop launched in India at a starting price of Rs 86,999. It's worth noting that not all variants of the new Surface devices are available online and offline. According to the news release, the 16GB-RAM+512GB-storage variant of the Surface Pro 6 and the 8GB-RAM+256GB-storage variant of the Surface Laptop 2 are available only in offline stores. Microsoft only recently launched the Surface Go, a more portable and cheaper version of the Surface Pro. The lowest variant of the Surface Go ships with an Intel Pentium Gold CPU, 4GB RAM, 64GB of eMMC storage, and Windows 10 Home in S Mode for Rs 37,999 exclusively from Flipkart. The Surface Go has a 10-inch PixelSense touchscreen display with a resolution of 1800 x 1200 pixels. The tiny tablet computer weighs 522g and sports a kickstand.
