Highlights: A study has found that smartphones are the prefered devices to play PUBG in India. Almost all budget smartphones can run the game. Cheaper data plans are contributing to the growth of PUBG in India. Another day, another PUBG news. Jana, the free internet provider, has conducted a study that has found that smartphones are the most favoured devices for PUBG players in India. The study says that 73.4 percent players in India play PUBG on their smartphones. This is because of the affordable data packages. 19.9 percent of the people that were a part of the study said that they do not play PUBG. PUBG is available on the PC, PS4 and Xbox One as well. Unlike gaming consoles and PCs, which are not only expensive but restrict you to play in one location, a smartphone that can play PUBG is relatively cheap and can be carried with you in your pocket wherever you go. Also, with the rise in affordable data plans, it is easy to sit anywhere and play PUBG on your phone so long as you have enough battery and a 4G connection. The study gathered insights from more than 1,000 individuals across Jana’s mCent browser. Speaking of gaming as a whole, a recent KPMG study in India called ‘Online Gaming in India: Reaching a New Pinnacle’, said that the online gaming industry in India will add 190 million gamers, making it a $1 billion opportunity by 2021. Currently the gaming industry in India is a $290 million business. While the gaming industry in the country is growing as a whole, one key attribute accounting for the success of PUBG has to be the fact that the game is free for smartphones. This has also lead to the sprouting of game streaming in India. PUBG streaming, especially in the local language, has become a lucrative business. Despite being a fun, addictive multiplayer online shooter game, PUBG has been getting some negative press as well. The Gujarat government's primary education department has reportedly issued a circular to implement a ban on PUBG. The government has asked district authorities to implement the ban. In other cases, a 15-year old student is reportedly undergoing treatment for PUBG addiction. It seems that he would play the game till late at night and skip school the next day. In other ban news for the game, the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association has asked the state's governor to ban PUBG Mobile because it is being held responsible for the poor exam results in Class X and XII exams. If you are one that wants to play PUBG on your PC but you don’t have a gaming PC, then know that a Lite PC version of PUBG is in development. PUBG Lite for the PC is being tested in Thailand and has its own development team. For those interested in the Lite experience of PUBG on the PC, here are the system requirements for the game.
