Highlights: The Redmi Go smartphone is expected to launch soon in the Philippines. Its leaked specs suggest that it runs Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition). The smartphone could also be launched in India. Xiaomi recently announced its Redmi Note 7 phone in China and the handset is expected to be announced in India soon. Along with the Redmi Note 7, the company is working on the Redmi Note 7 Pro and is rumoured to also soon unveil an Android Go-powered phone called the Redmi Go. Xiaomi Philippines has been teasing the launch of a new phone and it is speculated to be the Redmi Go. The probability of the phone being the Redmi Go shot up when Revu found an e-commerce platform in the Philippines that had the handset listed with complete specs. The online seller has now taken the page down but Slashleaks also posted a specification sheet of the phone that also reiterates the same specs that were listed on the e-commerce platform. Coming to the leaked render and specs of the phone, the Redmi Go looks quite similar to the Redmi 5A in terms of design. The phone can be seen sporting a 16:9 display aspect ratio with thick bezels on the top and bottom and there is a single camera and a flash module on the upper-left corner on the device’s back. Only the antenna lines and the rear-placed speaker grille seem to be missing. In terms of hardware, the Redmi Go is said to feature a 5-inch LCD HD display with a 1280x720p resolution and it could be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 425 SoC. As the handset is expected to be an Android Go phone, it comes with 1GB RAM, coupled with 8GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card. In terms of optics, the smartphone might come equipped with an 8MP single rear camera with an f/2.0 aperture and 1.12µm pixel size. At the front, it is said to feature a 5MP sensor with 1.12µm pixel size and an f/2/2 aperture. Running on Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition), the handset is listed with a 3,000mAh battery and a micro-USB charging port. The spec sheet suggests that the phone will come in Black and Blue colour variants and dual-SIM support.
