Samsung trademarks Neuro Game Booster technology that could take on Huaweis GPU Turbo tech

Highlights: Samsung filed for a trademark with the EU for its Neuro Game Booster technology. The tech is a software-based product that could utilise AI for delivering smoother gameplay. Samsung could announce the tech with the Galaxy S10 series. Samsung will soon announce its Galaxy S10 series of smartphones but ahead of the unveiling, the company has filed for a trademark with the EU for a software-based product called "Neuro Game Booster”. GSMArena reports, via GalaxyClub, that the company might be readying its own software technology for boosting gaming performance on its phones and as per the filing, the new product might utilise AI-based optimisations for doing so. We might get to see the new feature debut with the upcoming Galaxy S10 smartphones that are expected to run on the company’s latest Exynos 9820 SoC. The new chip might easily support the technology as it comes equipped with an integrated Neural Processing Unit (NPU). The patent filing by the company doesn’t really describe the new technology and how exactly it will work. “Software for smartphones; Electronic game software for mobile phones; Electronic game software for handheld electronic devices; Computer programmes for playing games; Computer application software featuring games and gaming; Artificial intelligence software; Downloadable computer game software; Recorded computer game software,” the filing reads. While there is no in-depth explanation right now, it is expected to be something similar to the GPU Turbo technology that was announced by Huawei last year in June. The GPU Turbo technology by Huawei is a software update that is said to increase the performance of the company’s devices by 60%, while lowering power consumption by 30%. The new feature debuted with the Honor Play and was later rolled out to the Huawei P20 Pro and is expected to be made available for the company’s other phones as well. As mentioned, the GPU Turbo technology is a software-based technology that is said to reassemble the traditional graphics processing framework at the lower layer system for improving the user experience. Huawei also says that even if its device doesn’t support High Dynamic Range (HDR), it will still be able to deliver "outstanding" graphics quality with GPU Turbo tech.  Related Reads:  Samsung might cease manufacturing of flagship smartphones in India Samsung Galaxy S10+ with Snapdragon 855 SoC spotted on Geekbench Exclusive: Samsung Galaxy M10 to be priced Rs 8,990, Galaxy M20 to retail at Rs 12,990
