Xiaomi teaser hints at a 65-inch variant of the Mi TV 4

Highlights: Manu Kumar Jain has teased the upcoming TV on twitter. It is presumed to be a 65-inch variant of the Mi TV. The TV is expected to be priced around Rs 60,000. Global VP at Xiaomi & MD Xiaomi India, Manu Kumar Jain took to twitter to tease a photo of the Mi TV with a tagline “the bigger picture”. In his tweet, he says, “I believe a bigger experience is always better.” This could be a hint that we will see a larger screen size of the Mi TV launching in India soon, presumably, a 65-inch variant of the TV. The family of Mi TVs in India are currently available in 32-inch, 43-inch, 49-inch and 55-inch variants. So, we presume that this new variant of the TV could be the 65-inch variant of the Mi TV. Information circulating the internet suggests that the TV could be priced around Rs 60,000. There is no information about the hardware powering the TV, but it is safe to assume that the TV will support 4K and HDR and will run on the company’s PatchWall OS based on Android – similar to what we have seen on other Xiaomi TVs in 2018. Speaking of the Mi TVs, we reviewed the first 55-inch Mi TV, the Mi TV 4 back in February 2018. The TV ran on the first generation PatchWall OS and brought with it a 10-bit panel for HDR content. We liked the TV for the performance it brought at the price. The TV was quite slim too. You can read our in-depth review of the TV here. In October 2018, we reviewed the 49-inch Mi TV 4A Pro. The TV was a 49-inch TV and brought with it a Full HD resolution along with support for HDR. In our review we said that the performance of 1080p content on the TV was great but the HDR performance was bleak. The October 2018 refresh of the Mi TV also brought voice controls on the remote control in the form of the Google Assistant. The voice controls worked well on the TV. You can read our review of the TV here. In 2018, we have seen a number of TVs launch in the budget segment boasting of support for 4K and HDR. With the trickling down of flagship technology from past years, 2019 will be an interesting year for those looking to buy a flagship TV or a budget TV. We already know that the upcoming LG OLED and NanoCell TVs will support HDMI 2.1 for higher 4K refresh rates and eARC for audio.
