Highlights: Rs 98 prepaid plan by BSNL now said to offer 2GB daily data instead of 1.5GB. The refreshed plan’s validity reportedly reduced to 24 days, down from 26 days. One can avail free Eros Now subscription with the plan as well. The state-run telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has been refreshing its offerings to add and retain customers. It recently revamped its broadband BharatFiber service to offer daily data and a year of free Amazon Prime subscription. Now, TelecomTalk reports that it has refreshed its Rs 98 prepaid recharge plan, which now offers 2GB daily data, 0.5GB more than what it previously used to offer. Additionally, the revamped recharge will now enable 60kbps data speeds post the FUP limit. Previously, there was no provision of unlimited data usage after exhausting the allotted daily data. Those who opt for this recharge will also get to avail free Eros Now subscription. This benefit can apparently be availed for the duration of the validity period of the pack. Also, to get the free subscription to the media streaming service, one will need to download the Eros Now app and log in to it. BSNL is now offering more data and access to it post FUP with the refreshed Rs 98 plan but there’s a catch. Validity of the Rs 98 plan has reportedly been reduced by two days and instead of 26 days, one will get to avail the benefits under this pack for 24 days. As mentioned above, BSNL has also made some changes to its broadband services. The company renamed its internet service to BharatFiber as it moved from providing internet over cables to solely over fiber. In addition, it renamed all the unlimited internet packs to reflect the amount of daily data one gets. For example, the new plans by the company’s BharatFiber service start at Rs 777 and come with 18GB daily data for a month. The telco is also offering one year of Amazon Prime membership for free for its BharatFiber users to make the service more enticing. There were some rumours floating around that the company could be closed down as it is not able to make up for the losses it has incurred, however, BSNL made it clear that this is not the case since the Department of Telecommunication is in the process of finalising a revival plan for the company.
