Redmi Note 7 sales exceeded 1 million units in three weeks since launch: Redmi CEO

The phone is expected to soon launch in India as well.    Xiaomi’s recently launched Redmi Note 7 smartphone seems to be making big waves in China. Redmi CEO, Lu Weibing says that the one million units of the smartphone have been sold since it hit the shelf, three weeks ago. The smartphone is currently available only in China and is expected to be soon announced in India as the company has been teasing the device. In China, the phone was launched on January 10 and its first sale happened on January 15. The handset apparently sold out in its first sale. The company is also expected to soon announce the Redmi Note 7 Pro smartphone, which is expected to be more powerful than the Redmi Note 7.  Redmi Note 7 Specifications The Redmi Note 7 made news recently because of its ‘durability tests’ conducted on it by the company and its 48MP camera. The phone features a 6.3-inch LCD display with a 2340x1080 pixel resolution and is powered by the Snapdragon 660 SoC. In China, the handset is available in 3GB, 4GB and 6GB RAM variants options to select from 32GB or 64GB of storage. However, a previous report suggested that the smartphone could be launched in only 3GB RAM/32GB storage and 4GB RAM/64GB storage models in India, in Black, Blue and Red colour models.  In terms of optics, the phone is equipped with a 48MP primary sensor on the back, which is supplemented with a 5MP secondary sensor for capturing portrait shots. The 48MP sensor is developed by Samsung and features ultra-small 0.8um pixels, which cram together to deliver a total of 48 megapixels in the sensor. Xiaomi confirmed that the Redmi Note 7 Pro is in the pipeline and it will feature the 48MP Sony IMX 586 sensor. On the front, the Redmi Note 7 gets a 13MP camera that supports AI-based algorithms for face beautification and portrait mode. It is backed by a 4000mAh battery, and Redmi claims that it can deliver one and a half day’s worth of run-time on a single charge. In China, the Redmi Note 7 starts from 999 Yuan (Rs 10,000 approx) for the 3GB+32GB variant, while its 4GB+64GB variant is priced 1199 Yuan (Rs 12,500 approx). The 6GB+64GB version of the device retails for 1399 Yuan (Rs 14,500 approx).
