Highlights: Gmail G-Suite users will now get access to dynamic emails. These emails are enabled with the help of Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP). The feature is rolling out today in beta for Gmail users. With most of the web surfing happening from phones, many mobile-specific technologies have started making their way to the desktop environment. One such tech is Accelerated Mobile Pages or AMP, which is an open-source framework originally designed for faster web page loading on mobile phones. Last year, Google announced that it will introduce AMP technology in Gmail but it seems that the project was slightly delayed as it is now being made available in beta, for G-Suite users. The new feature should enable more dynamic interaction with emails so that users are able to accomplish some tasks from within Gmail, instead of opening an external link in a new tab. With AMP being integraṭed within Gmail, one will get to take actions directly. Some examples of such actions include filling out a form, browsing a catalog, or responding to a comment. It will now be possible to reply directly to, or resolve, a Google Doc comment from within an email. Some businesses have also commenced using dynamic emails that enable actions like Booking.com, Despegar, Doodle, Ecwid, Freshworks, Nexxt, OYO Rooms, Pinterest and redBus. “Like the rest of Gmail, dynamic email is safeguarded by best-in-class privacy and security protections. To ensure added security, those who want to send dynamic email have to be reviewed by Gmail first before they can get started,” says Google in its blog post. Dynamic mails will commence rolling out for users on the web today, with mobile support slated to come soon. In case one is using another mail app with Gmail, they’ll only see the static version. The news comes at the time when Inbox by Gmail is shutting down its services. The service will be shut down on April 2, which is the same day on which the company will pull the plug for Google+.
