Highlights: Huawei has announced Active and Elegant Editions to the Huawei Watch GT Line Up The company has also announced the FreeLace Wireless Earphones The earphones can be charged and paired via the USB-C port of a Huawei smartphone Huawei launched the Watch GT in October last year and at an event in Paris, the company has made an addition to the Watch GT family. Huawei has announced the Active Edition and Elegant Edition of the Watch GT. The Active Edition features the same 46mm watch face found on the Huawei Watch GT Classic Edition and Sport Edition, while the Elegant Edition features a smaller 42mm ceramic bezel option. Huawei Watch GT Active Edition sports a 1.39-inch AMOLED HD colour touchscreen with a resolution of 454 x 454 pixels, whereas the Elegant Edition features a 1.2-inch AMOLED HD colour touchscreen with a resolution of 390 x 390 pixels. Huawei claims that the WATCH GT Active, Sport and Classic Editions features two-week battery life with typical use. This two-week battery life will include activities like all day wear and heart rate function activated, scientific sleeping function activated at night, 90 minutes of exercise per week and message notification. The Elegant Edition, on the other hand, offers one week of battery life. Huawei says that used without exercise tracking in a more traditional watch scenario, the Huawei Watch GT can stay charged for up to 30 days. For fitness, the new Huawei Watch GT Active Edition and Elegant Edition feature Triathlon mode. Three types of workouts are supported under Triathlon, including swimming, outdoor cycling, and outdoor running. The smartwatch can record the entire triathlon, including the transition time. The Triathlon mode will come to the Huawei Watch GT Classic and Sport Edition via an update. Moving to the heart rate monitoring, the watch features Huawei TruSeen 3.0 heart rate monitoring. With this, users can track continuous 24-hours heart rate monitoring and resting heart rates. In Sport mode, the watch can be set up to notify individuals to adjust the intensity of their workout based on a pre-set target heart rate interval. When it comes to sleep tracking, the watch features TruSleep 2.0. Huawei claims that the watch can give users over 200 suggestions for improving sleep quality and personalized sleep services by real-time heart rate monitoring, sleep breathing and big data analysis. With a laundry list of features, we will have to put the watches through their paces when they come to India. The Huawei Watch GT Elegant Edition will be available in Magic Pearl White and Tahitian Magic Black Pearl colour options. The Huawei Watch GT Active Edition is available at Euro 229 (Rs 17,816 approx) whereas the Elegant Edition is priced at Euro 249 (Rs 19,372). During the P30 launch event, Huawei also unveiled the FreeLace wireless earphones. The earphones support Huawei HiPair. This means that the FreeLace earphones can be paired with and fast charged by Huawei smartphones by simply plugging them into the device. The earphones will be available in Graphite Black, Amber Sunrise, Emerald Green and Moonlight Silver colour options. They will be available in select countries starting April 11. Huawei says that the FreeLace is made of memory metal wrapped in liquid silicon “which offers a decorative appearance, and feels soft and skin-friendly”. Pairing the headset is quite easy. A user needs to separate the right earbud and its cable from the volume buttons revealing a USB Type-C connector, which can be inserted into the USB Type-C port of any Huawei smartphone running EMUI 9.1 for Bluetooth pairing via HUAWEI HiPair. The headset can be plugged into the USB Type-C port of any smartphone, tablet or PC for charging. Huawei claims that a five-minute charge gives the earphones up to four hours of playback time. Under the hood, the earphones sport a 120mAh battery. Huawei claims the FreeLace supports up to 18 hours of playback, 13 hours of talk time and 12 days of standby time (while connected via Bluetooth) on a single charge. Inside each earpiece is a 9.2mm driver comprising an ultra-thin TPU diaphragm and titanium plating. The HUAWEI FreeLace is priced at Euro 99 (Rs 7,705 approx) will be available beginning in April at Huawei Authorized Retailers.
