First spotted by developers at XDA Forums, Qualcomm quietly updated the spec-sheets of certain mid-range and flagship chipsets to include support for 192MP cameras. The Snapdragon 670, Snapdragon 675, Snapdragon 710, Snapdragon 712, Snapdragon 845 and Snapdragon 855 all support 192 camera systems. The ISP section of the chipsets show that apart from support for single-camera 48MP with multi-frame noise reduction and zero shutter lag, there’s also support for a single camera up to 192MP. The update essentially indicates future smartphones that are powered by the chipsets might support photo capture at 192-megapixels. Notably, Qualcomm states 192MP will only be possible in a single-camera system. Dual and hybrid camera systems might not be able to leverage the high-resolution.
