Specs Comparison: Xiaomi Redmi Go vs Nokia 21 vs Samsung Galaxy J2 Core

Highlights: Redmi Go launched today at Rs 4,499 We compare its specs with those of the Nokia 2.1 and Samsung Galaxy J2 Core   Android Go-powered models have been dominating the budget smartphone territory for many months now, and Xiaomi has just tossed its hat in the ring with the launch of the Redmi Go. Much like the other Android Go smartphones in the same price range, the Xiaomi Redmi Go comes with a 5-inch LCD display, 1GB RAM, and 8GB internal storage space (with an option to expand using an microSD card) for a price of Rs 4,499. Supporting over twenty regional languages, the Redmi Go comes bundled with a Hindi version of Google Assistant in addition to a suite of Go apps from Google. Let’s take a look at the Redmi Go’s most immediate competitors and see how it stacks up against them: the Nokia 2.1 and Samsung Galaxy J2 Core. Do note that this comparison is based purely on the specifications of all three phones, so it’s not conclusive. Xiaomi Redmi Go The new kid on the block features a 16:9 5-inch IPS LCD display with an HD resolution, giving it the highest pixel density among the three of about 294 pixels per inch. At 137g, it’s also the lightest among the three models. The Redmi Go is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chipset with a quad-core CPU and 1GB of RAM. The rear camera is a single 8-megapixel unit with an aperture of f/2.0, which is the smallest of the three. Audio recording and voice call quality could be better on the Redmi Go than the other two models as it sports a dedicated secondary microphone for noise cancellation. Nokia 2.1 The Nokia 2.1 has been around since last year but seems to be the most updated in terms of software. Unlike the other two, which run a Go edition of Android 8.1 Oreo, the Nokia 2.1 is the only one to run a Go edition of Android 9 Pie. In fact, it received the update only last month, which freed up 500MB of additional storage space internally. The Nokia 2.1 also sports the biggest display in this comparison, inside its aluminium frame. It features a 16:9 5.5-inch IPS LCD panel with HD resolution. At 4,000mAh, it also has the biggest battery among the three. On the downside, it’s the heaviest phone of the lot (174g) and it can only record 720p video at 30 frames per second, and not Full HD. Samsung Galaxy J2 Core The Galaxy J2 Core is the odd one out in terms of core hardware because, instead of a Qualcomm chipset, it goes in for Samsung’s Exynos 7570 chipset. It has the same 1GB RAM as the other two though. Its 5-inch PLS TFT display comes with a slightly lower resolution of 540 x 960 pixels, bringing its pixel density to 220 pixels per inch. At 2,600mAh, the Galaxy J2 Core also has the smallest battery among the three models.   Related Read: Nokia 2.1 gets February security patch, up to 500MB additional storage with Android 9 Pie (Go Edition) update Xiaomi Redmi Go with Hindi Google Assistant, support for 20+ regional languages launched in India at Rs 4499
