Highlights: Twitter is rolling out a new mobile app update (on both Android and iOS platforms). The update contains a new feature that will let users share photos and videos more easily. In its latest update for the popular mobile microblogging app, Twitter has made it easier for users to capture photos and videos and share them quickly in a fresh tweet. Twitter announced the rollout of the new feature in, quite predictably, a tweet early morning yesterday with a video. The new camera-focussed feature is expected to roll out to both Android and iOS users anytime now. The new feature, as Twitter explains in its announcement video, lets the user swipe left from the main Timeline screen to open up the camera in the app. The user can then either take a photo (by tapping on the virtual shutter button) or shoot a video (by pressing and holding the button). The video can be up to two minutes long. The user can either go live on Periscope while capturing or finish capturing and then send their photo or video out as a tweet to all their followers. Twitter’s new feature makes the microblogging app somewhat similar to Instagram and WhatsApp in that it brings sharing of new photos and videos forward. Previously a Twitter user had to click on the Compose Tweet first and then select Camera to share something that’s happening around them. Now the user need only make a quick swipe from the Timeline screen to start recording something ‘tweet-worthy’. Twitter was recently spotted testing a new mobile app called ‘twttr’ publically, which is expected to come with new and unreleased features that are under test. To participate in the public testing programme, a Twitter user must first sign up with Twitter.
