Highlights: Xiaomi Black Shark 2 gaming phone launched in China. It comes with world’s first “direct touch multilayer liquid cooling system.” The phone is powered by Snapdragon 855 processor and has up to 12GB of RAM. After weeks of leaks and reports, Xiaomi has launched its gaming phone, the Black Shark 2, in China. The phone will compete against other gaming devices such as the Razr Phone 2 and Asus ROG phone. The Xiaomi Black Shark 2 is the third phone in the line-up after Xiaomi Black Shark and Black Shark Helo that were launched last year. The phone comes with Qualcomm’s flagship processor and features a pressure-sensitive AMOLED display. Xiaomi Black Shark 2 price and availability: The Xiaomi Black Shark 2 is currently available in China only and there is no information on the launch in the international market. The phone is launched in “frozen silver” and “shadow black” colours, and comes in two RAM and storage options. The base 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant is priced at CNY 3,200 (approx Rs 32,500) and the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage model will be available for CNY 4,200 (approx Rs 43000). The frozen silver colour version is available with an 8GB RAM and 256GB storage as well. Xiaomi Black Shark 2 specifications: The Black Shark 2 sports a 6.39-inch AMOLED display with an in-display fingerprint sensor and 1080 x 2340 pixel resolution. The display comes with a pressure-sensitive system that enables gamers to map the buttons located on the flanking corners of the screen. These buttons can be triggered by pressing harder than usual on that part of the screen. Xiaomi claims that the phone’s display has been optimized for gaming, and it delivers an improved colour accuracy, reduced screen flicker at low brightness, and low touch latency of 43.5ms. Under the hood, the smartphone features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 mobile platform, along with an option to choose from an 6GB of RAM/128GB storage and 12GB of RAM/256GB storage variants. As anticipated, the Black Shark 2 comes with a cooling tech, which Xiaomi claims is the world’s first “direct touch multilayer liquid cooling system” that keeps the temperature of the CPU 14-degrees cooler during intense gaming sessions. In the camera department, the phone sports a dual camera system on the back and a front shooter on the front. The rear camera has a 48MP Quad Bayer sensor with 0.8µm pixels and an f/1.75 aperture. The secondary camera has a 2x telephoto lens and a 12MP sensor with 1.0µm pixels. The selfie shooter has a 20MP sensor with f/2.0 and 0.9µm pixels). The phone draws power from a 4,000 mAh battery, which comes with a 27W fast charging support. The comapny also unveiled the GamePad 3.0, which can turn the phone into a console.
