India, without a doubt, has a price-conscious smartphone market where Chinese smartphones currently rule the roster. While Samsung’s high-end premium flagship ‘S’ series and ‘Note’ series of handsets are some of the best devices around, the company has been revamping its entry-level and budget devices to reinvigorate and recapture its lost market share in these segments. It introduced its Galaxy A and Galaxy M series of phones in India, in January and February this year respectively. Now, a new video posted from the company’s Malaysia YouTube page confirms that it is merging its Galaxy J series with the Galaxy A series.

The video doesn’t give much information about how or what changes will be made to the Samsung J-series of handsets. The company announces phones from entry-level to mid-range under its Galaxy-J series. Merging it with the Galaxy-A series does mean that Samsung is further streamlining its offerings. The Smartphone maker introduced some high-end features like quad cameras and Infinity display design on its Galaxy-A series of phones, which means the J-series handsets being merged could receive a complete overhaul in terms of both, design and hardware. Additionally, the news comes a day before the company is slated to launch its new Galaxy A90 smartphone.

The Galaxy A90 is expected to be the company’s upcoming upper mid-range smartphone and alongside it, it could announce two more phones, the Galaxy A40 and the Galaxy A20e. Ahead of the official announcement, the Galaxy A90 was spotted on an e-commerce website listing from the UK and a report hints at its complete specs. The smartphone is said to come equipped with a 6.7-inch AMOLED display offering a 2400 x 1080p resolution and might be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7150 processor. The company usually employs its own Exynos SoCs on phones that are being launched in Asian countries but equipping a Snapdragon platform suggests that the devices might be launched in other regions as well.

Additionally, the Galaxy A90 might sport a triple rear camera setup with a 48MP primary sensor with an f/2.0 aperture lens. It might sport an 8MP secondary sensor with f/2.4 aperture and a tertiary ToF camera sensor for better depth perception. Some reports about the handset suggest an interesting new camera mechanism that rotates to capture selfies.

Related Reads:

Samsung Galaxy A90, Galaxy A40 and Galaxy A20e listed on official UK website

Samsung Galaxy A90 specs leaked ahead of April 10 launch
