OnePlus has released the open betas for four of its older phones bringing some display-related updates as well as quick reply support. The OnePlus 5, the OnePlus 5T, the OnePlus 6 and the OnePlus 6T got the open betas. As expected, the company has asked the testers to submit the bug reports on OnePlus Bug Reporting forum and has also warned them of potential risks of flashing the unstable beta builds.
OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5TThe OnePlus 5 (Open Beta update 31) and OnePlus 5T (Open Beta update 29) changelog mentions that the “display overheating device warning” issue has been fixed and there is a new UI for system update. It also says that the quick reply feature is now supported in more instant messaging (IM) apps in landscape mode. OnePlus also assures that these IM apps don’t get paused when using the quick reply feature in the landscape mode. Further, the search experience has been optimised by adding search field and grouping search results in different categories. There is also an improved UI of Social page as well as Log recording in Bug Report section.
OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6TThe open betas for the OnePlus 6 (Open Beta update 17) and OnePlus 6T (Open Beta update 9) bring the same features and optimisations as the betas of the OnePlus 5 and the OnePlus 5T brought to these phones. However, there is an India-only feature that the OnePlus 6/6T update brings to the phones. Under File Manager, the company has added an Intelligent cleanup feature that is anticipated to clean clutter from phones.
In less than two weeks, OnePlus will launch the OnePlus 7 Series of phones. Reports have suggested that the Chinese company will launch three phones: the OnePlus 7, the OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7 5G. All the phones will have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor under the hood, and are tipped to be offered in multiple variants. The OnePlus 7 5G will have the X50 modem for 5G capabilities and is said to have same specs as the pro variant. The OnePlus 7 Pro has a triple camera system with 3x optical zoom and 10x digital zoom.
