Fortnite Season 10 will run only on graphics cards supporting DirectX 11 and above

Epic Games has announced that it will be changing graphics card support for Fortnite on PC with the commencement of Season 10. The battle royale title will soon only support graphics cards that are capable of running Microsoft DirectX 11 or higher. This might not be a big problem since graphics cards dating back to 2009 come with DirectX 11 compatibility. However, to ensure that the game doesn’t stop working on your PC or laptop, we suggest you check the version of DirectX on your PC here.

“While a DirectX 11-capable graphics card has always been one of Fortnite’s system requirements, we’ve kept support online for players with older graphics cards - so they could keep playing! However, when Season 10 begins, Fortnite will no longer be compatible with these older graphics cards. This allows us to focus our development and testing efforts to further optimize the Fortnite experience for all players,” Epic Games’ blog post reads. While there’s no official info on when the new season of the title will roll out, Season 9 is set to end on August 1. So, the next season is expected to commence on August 2.

The news comes soon after the version 9.30 update of the game was rolled out. The patch brings a new ability called Chug Splash, which is a throwable item that splashes liquid in a small area. All players who are in the splash radius will be granted 20 health instantly but the catch is that both friends and foes are affected by it. A player whose health is full will be granted Shield instead. Chug Splash can also extend the duration of the ‘knocked’ state for knocked players. Chug Splash is dropped in stacks of two with the max stack size being six. It can be found from Floor Loot, Chests, Vending Machines, Supply Drops, and Llamas.
