Vodafone revises Rs 139 prepaid plan to offer 3GB data instead of 5GB for 28 days

Back in April, Vodafone announced its Rs 139 prepaid plan that offered up to 5GB data benefit for 28 days. While the current trend is that telecom operators are offering more data to best the competition, it seems like Vodafone has taken a U-turn that might draw ire from its consumers. The previously announced Rs 139 plan by the telco is now revised to offer 3GB data instead of 5GB for 28 days. Alongside the monthly data, it still offers unlimited national calling with roaming and 300 SMS. However, this sudden drop in offered data amount could be due to Airtel’s recently announced Rs 148 prepaid recharge that also offers 3GB data.

Airtel recently launched a new prepaid plan priced at Rs 148 that offers 3GB data for 28 days. It also comes with unlimited free national calling and 100 SMS benefits per day. Both the plans by Airtel and Vodafone go up against Jio’s Rs 149 prepaid pack, which offers 1.5GB data per day with unlimited calling and 100 SMS per day for 28 days. Jio users also get complimentary access to Jio’s suite of apps when they recharge with the plan. Additionally, not only are these entry-level short term recharge plans are being refreshed constantly, Airtel and Vodafone also revamped their long-term prepaid recharge plans to offer more data.

The Rs 1,699 plan by Airtel now comes with 1.4GB of daily data, instead of 1GB. The plan still offers unlimited calling, 100 SMS messages per day and some additional benefits with a 365-day validity. This prepaid plan also offers a free subscription to Airtel TV's Premium services, like free access to HOOQ, Norton, ZEE5, along with Wynk Music and cashback of up to Rs 2,000 when buying a new 4G phone. Vodafone also has a prepaid plan priced at Rs 1,699, which has a 365-day validity and offers 1GB data per day.
