Well, it looks like Disney+ is facing a few issues right off the bat. The streaming service was launched about a week ago in the US, Canada and the Netherlands and has hit a few snags along the way. Since the service has gone live, it has been reported by the BBC and other major networks that hackers and attackers have stolen thousands of customer’s accounts and info and even put up the information on sale on the Dark Web.
This has caused a lot of panic among customers of the service and people were left in the dark regarding any solution to the issue. People were stuck on the phone and on chat lines for hours with no real support from Disney’s side. For their part, Disney have stated that their systems have not been compromised in any way. A spokesperson for the company said, “Disney takes the privacy and security of our users' data very seriously and there is no indication of a security breach on Disney+”. This essentially means that their information was stolen by other nefarious means.
To be fair, on the day of the service’s release, users had many technical problems and went on to social media to voice their valid concerns. There were reports of users being locked out of their accounts and have not even heard back from Disney as yet. Talk about a bad launch, Disney+ seems to be having a hard time.
