CES 2020: ASUS ROG Swift 4K monitor with 360Hz, support for Nvidia G-sync announced

How high of a refresh rate is enough? Well, as per Asus and Nvidia, 360Hz should do the trick for now. Asus has announced the new ROG SWIFT PG32UQX, which is a 24.5-inch Mini LED 4K high-dynamic-range (HDR) gaming monitor with 360Hz refresh rate. Currently, monitors with 144Hz refresh rates are the norm, while 240Hz displays are usually preferred by competitive gamers. The new gaming monitor by Asus is aimed at upping the ante and is being marketed as an ‘esports display’ by Nvidia, who has also confirmed that the panel is G-SYNC compatible. In addition, the monitor comes with options to support

The new ASUS ROG Swift PG32UQX monitor is touted to offer saturated colours, brighter whites, and darker blacks over SDR content. The 16:9 display also meets the VESA DisplayHDR 1400 standard with full-array local dimming Mini LED backlight with 1152 zones. It can apparently hit peak brightness of 1400 nits and comes with support for over 90 percent of the DCI-P3 colour space. The rear panel of the display features multiple textures and is separated by a subtle diagonal chrome strip. There’s also an RGB LED ROG logo and an ROG logo projector embedded in the base of the twisted stand that ASUS has trademarked.

The new 360Hz monitor from Asus is said to display frames once every 2.8ms while gaming, which can be up to six times faster than a regular TV or monitor. The ASUS ROG Swift PG32UQX might be enticing to gamers. However, to make full use of the device’s capabilities, one will need an extremely powerful GPU that can push games to high frame rates. There’s no exact date when the device will be available for purchase but the company says it will be available “later this year”. There’s also no information about the monitor’s pricing.
