If you are a OnePlus 8 Pro user, then there is something you should be aware of. Some users are reporting that after the 15.5.5 update, Netflix is only playing in SD on the smartphone. To recap, the OnePlus 8 Pro has a 6.78-inch display with a 1440 x 3168 pixels resolution with support for HDR 10+. One of the posts on the OnePlus Forum reads, “I can confirm that this is the case on my OP8P right now too. Bootloader locked. Just logged in Netflix after years to check this out. Prime video is certainly SD as well. In the DRM info app, it's L3 for me too. I watched 4K UHD content in Prime video yesterday before I run the 2 updates on OP8P, so I’m pretty sure it's on their end.” It looks like the issue started when users upgraded their OnePlus 8 Pro to version 15.5.5 and persisted in version 15.5.6. According to Android Authority, “OnePlus is telling those affected to ship phones back to the factory.”
The OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro have launched in India, but have only gone on limited sale. The sale of the smartphone in India has been delayed due to some employees testing positive for the Coronavirus at the Oppo facility in Greater Noida where the smartphone is being assembled.
