— Compaq TV (@tv_compaq) August 30, 2020Even though specifications of the Compaq TVs are not known, we can expect them to support 4K along with HDR and even Dolby Vision. Since most brands have taken to the Android TV platform, we can expect the TV to offer the same. While brands like OnePlus and Xiaomi offer their own UI in addition to Android TV it will be interesting to see what Compaq does in this space.
The TV space is heating up in India with the 32-inch and 43-inch dominating and the 50 and 55-inch space also seeing growth. We have also seen brands market their 65-inch and above TVs in India as some households are looking to bring the theatre home. We have seen brands like Nokia which entered the Indian market with a 55-inch TV and subsequently launched a 43-inch (review) and then 65-inch TV. We have seen brands like Kodak and Thomson launch a new lineup of TVs from 43-inches all the way to 65-inches.
In the premium segment, we have seen Sony launch the 'ready for PlayStation 5 TVs' in 55 and 65-inch screen sizes. You can read more about them here.
