PUBG Mobile planning to make a comeback in India before 2020 ends

PUBG Mobile is eyeing a comeback in India before the end of 2020, according to the latest reports online. Just days after Tencent terminated its services and access for PUBG Mobile and PUBG Mobile Lite in India, we’re now hearing that the popular battle royale game might just return after the Indian government banned it on September 2.

According to a report by TechCrunch that cites anonymous sources, PUBG Corporation has approached some global cloud service providers and could be planning to set up dedicated servers to store users data in India. Moreover, the company has also reportedly informed “high-profile” streamers in India about its comeback before the end of 2020.

One of the other sources in the report claims that the company could announce its plans for the comeback in India “as soon as this week”. Additionally, the developer is also planning to launch a marketing campaign during the Diwali festival that is scheduled for next week.

Another report by TalkEsport indicates that Microsoft and Reliance Jio are in talks for getting the publisher rights for PUBG Mobile in India. “The two tech-giants are reportedly going to announce the deal within a few weeks,” the report reads.

There have been several reports in the past about PUBG Corporation being in talks with Airtel and Jio for the license to publish PUBG Mobile in India. Having said that, the TechCrunch report notes that PUBG Corp has also reached out to Paytm in recent weeks.

After PUBG Mobile was banned in India along with 118 other apps over security concerns on September 2. PUBG Corporation severed ties with Tencent, the publisher of the game in India. On October 30, Tencent announced that it will terminate its services and access for PUBG Mobile players in India and with this, the publishing rights were handed back to PUBG Corp.

The new information does bring a ray of hope to the PUBG Mobile players who have been waiting for the game to return, however, there is no official word as to when that might happen.

PUBG Mobile remains one of the most popular battle royale games in India with over 50 million active players and many other games have been trying to get the kind of spotlight ever since the game’s exit from India. Reliance Jio recently hosted its first FreeFire tournament in India and nCore Games recently released a teaser for their upcoming game FAU-G, that’s set to launch sometime in November.
