If you’ve been wanting an Xbox Series X or a Series S, you will have to wait a little longer. The Xbox Series X has been sold out in India. Microsoft's head of investor relations, Mike Spencer said that supply is going to be an issue until July, in a recent interview with the New York Times. The Xbox Series X and Series S have literally sold every unit that has been manufactured last quarter. It’s the same on the other side of the pond, with many users unable to secure the next-gen console. Sony even posted a tweet that confirmed the same.
We want to thank gamers everywhere for making the PS5 launch our biggest console launch ever. Demand for PS5 is unprecedented, so we wanted to confirm that more PS5 inventory will be coming to retailers before the end of the year - please stay in touch with your local retailers.
— PlayStation (@PlayStation) November 25, 2020 Xbox Series X shortage to last till JulyMicrosoft and Sony have not released sales figures for either console, so a lot of speculation is just that, speculation. Dave Gibson, an analyst at Astrid Analysts estimates that 6 million PS5s have been sold through the end of 2020. The Xbox Series X and the Series S have sold around 3 million units, according to Gibson. This isn’t necessarily huge news as fans have come to expect delays due to the pandemic. Though, people have been left disappointed as they have not been able to get their hands on either console.
Unscrupulous scalpers have also played a major part in the dwindling supply of next-gen consoles. Bots have caused all sorts of chaos as these programs are much faster than regular humans in detecting and purchasing any new consoles online. It’s been such a huge issue that even Walmart have blocked 20 million bot attempts trying to buy the PS5. If you're interested, we've even got a clash between the Xbox Series X vs PS5, right here.
