the second quarter of this year Xiaomi tops Apple on worldwide smartwatch shipments with 19.6% of total market share. Xioami's sales have significantly boosted by the launch of Mi Band 6. Though India, their biggest market, was not in the initial global launch list. Apple closes the gap and secures the second place with a small margin difference of 0.3% On the other hand Huawei faces a horrendous 53.9% loss in annual growth falling from first position into the third, mainly hanging on the Chinese market.

The global wearable market has increased by 5.6% in the second quarter of 2021. The trend of smartwatches and basic watches topping the sales of basic bands from Q4 of 2020 still continues. Global shipments of basic bands went down 23.8% reaching 15.5 million units.
However Apple continues to lead the global wristwatch market with a respectable lead of 31.1% market share in the second quarter of 2021. Followed by Huawei with 9% and Garmin with a market share of 7.6%
"Vendors are trying to make a big generational leap in smartwatch technologies. To stand out, they improve the basics, such as user experience and battery life, create their own distinct user interfaces and leverage their respective ecosystems to extract new and unique use cases” added Jason Low, head of research at Canalys.
