Samsung Galaxy S22 series is tipped to launch with the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 chipset instead of the Exynos 2200 in India. While the launch date is under wraps, Samsung could unveil the S22 lineup in early February. The company usually releases Exynos SoC powered variants of their flagship phones in India. However, that has changed in the recent past where we have seen more Samsung phones with Qualcomm Snapdragon chips make it to India than ever before.
As per a tweet by tipster FrontTron, the S22 series that launches in India will be powered by the recently announced Snapdragon 8 Gen1 chipset. From the tweet, it seems like the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus and Galaxy S22 Ultra will all have the latest Snapdragon chip under the hood which is a departure from the Exynos variants that often ends up launching in India.
India S22 Series will be getting a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, instead of an Exynos 2200 chipset.
— Tron (@FrontTron) December 5, 2021Another piece of information coming from the Ice Universe Twitter handle states that the Samsung Galaxy S22 series could launch on February 8. The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra has leaked previously (1, 2) and the entire lineup is slated to get a revamped design, especially the design of the camera module.
Galaxy S22 Ultra came too late. If it is released on February 8, at that time, at least five Snapdragon 8 GEN1 flagship phones have been listed. pic.twitter.com/u7ddu6kAKl

The Galaxy S22 Ultra is expected to feature a 6.8-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and is likely topped with Gorilla Glass. The phone is expected to draw inspiration from the design and profile of the Galaxy Note series. Moreover, it's also expected to support the S Pen like last year but there are rumours that the S22 Ultra also has a dedicated stylus holder like the Galaxy Note phones.

The cameras on the S22 Ultra are said to be generational upgrades featuring the same resolutions as last year. We are expecting a 108MP main camera based on the HM3 sensor along with a 12MP ultra-wide camera, a 10MP periscope telephoto camera and a 10MP telephoto lens. On the front, there is likely a 40MP selfie camera.
There are still weeks to go if Samsung’s usual launch timelines are to be taken into account. The Snapdragon 8 Gen1 was launched last week and companies like Motorola, Xiaomi and Realme are already teasing the launch of their respective flagship phones powered by the new chip in December itself.
