The much-awaited PlayStation exclusive God of War Ragnarok, the sequel to 2018’s God of War has finally been launched in India. The game is available on the PlayStation 5 as well as the PlayStation 4. Let’s check out more details about this game! 

God of War Ragnarok: What’s all the hype about?

God of War Ragnarok has received some great reviews from critics. The game is already at a Metacritic score of 94 and gamers all around the globe who have started playing the game are already praising it and calling it a “worthy successor to the 2018 game.” 

As for the story, the game takes place right after 2018’s God of War and the story follows Kratos and Atreus through the Nine Realms of Norse mythology. Both the father-son duo will have to face several beasts and gods on their journey to seek out a means to prevent Ragnarok while attempting to uncover answers behind Atreus' identity as Loki.

God of War Ragnarok has gained a lot of attention in the past few months. Sony India planned a midnight launch for the game in multiple locations in the country and lots of gamers from around the country attended the launch from their respective cities.

God of War Ragnarok: Pricing and Availability

The digital version of the game is available on PlayStation Store. While the physical discs can be ordered online from ShopAtSC, Games The Shop, and Amazon India. Customers who had pre-ordered the game will get access to Kratos Risen Snow Armour and Atreus Risen Snow Tunic.

As of now, God of War Ragnarok’s Launch Edition is only available in online stores. However, as confirmed by Rishi Alwani, the Collector's Edition and Jotnar Edition for the game is also available in a few offline stores. You’ll have to check your local stores in your city if case you’re willing to pick those editions of the game.

India is now looking at developing a home-grown drone industry

The Indian government is focusing on building a leading drone industry worldwide, with the manufacturing unit set up locally. The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, announced the Make in India scheme in September 2014. Since then, the industrial sector in the country has prioritized manufacturing products locally within the country.

Drones are available in all shapes and sizes. The smaller drones typically carry three of four rotors and can carry something small like a camera. The bigger ones look more like aeroplanes, can take substantial payloads, and are usually used by the military. As a result, India banned the import of drones, except ones used by the military and for research and development.

Drones to be produced in India?

Former joint secretary at the Indian Ministry of Civil Aviation, Amber Dubey, says, "Drones can be an essential creator of economic growth and employment due to their ease of use and versatility, especially in India's remote areas. Moreover, given India's traditional strengths in information technology, frugal engineering, innovation, and its huge domestic demand, it has the potential to build a global drone hub by 2030. 

Currently, drones are involved in all sorts of jobs in India. Police use them to monitor congestion, and border security forces are utilizing drones to monitor the movement of smugglers and traffickers. In addition, drones have been a great help in agriculture, where they monitor crops' health and spray them with fertilizer and pesticides. A Drone Federation of India official, Rajiv Kumar Narang, stated, "India has set an aim of being a drone hub by 2030, but I think we should take cautions because we currently don't have an ecosystem and technology initiatives in place." He adds that the drone industry needs a robust regulator to oversee all the safety measures and help develop an air traffic management system for drones in the country. In addition, India lacks the network of industries and companies that are required to make all the parts that a drone infrastructure needs. Many components are currently imported, including motors, batteries, flight controllers, etc. However, the government will seemingly introduce an incentive scheme to boost domestic industries. Despite the limitations, the government and the firms are confident there will be a high demand for drones.

Xbox prices will now see a slight hike Could cost 55,990 in India

Microsoft has announced that it is again raising the price of its video gaming console in India. The company hiked the cost of the next-gen console for the third time after its launch in the country. As a result, the Xbox Series X will now be available for ₹55,990. However, the company is yet to announce the hike officially, but Twitter user Rishi Alwani (@rishialwani), revealed the news.

When the Xbox Series X launched in late 2020, the console was listed for ₹49,990. However, Microsoft raised the Series X price to ₹52,990 four months ago. Therefore, the new price rise would be an over 5 per cent increase. It will be the second price hike in four months and is likely down to the weakening power of the Indian Rupee (INR) against the US Dollar (USD). The Series X India price increase comes in the wake of Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer admitting that they won't be able to hold Series X's current US price for long. 

New Xbox Series X/S price increase

The Xbox website still mentions the price of the Xbox Series X as ₹49,999. However, the cost of the accessories has gone up now. For example, the Xbox Series X wireless controller (Robot White) has increased from ₹5,690 to ₹5,990. In addition, the wireless controller with USB C (Black) will now cost ₹5,990 instead of ₹5,390. Also, the wireless controller in Shock Blue and Electric Volt colours is now costing ₹6,490 instead of ₹5,890. In addition, the Mineral Camo Edition wireless controller will now be available for ₹6,990 instead of ₹6,390. Meanwhile, the Xbox Elite Series 2 controller's price has increased from ₹15,990 to ₹17,990.

Rumours that Sony's PlayStation5 will receive a price hike are also surfacing online. However, Microsoft's rival has yet to confirm the news about its next-gen console. As a result, the disc and digital editions of the Sony console continue to show the pricing as Rs 49,999 and Rs 39,999, respectively, on platforms like Flipkart, where you can pre-book the console, despite stocks remaining tight.

EA to launch an Iron Man Game as part of the 3-game deal with Marvel: Details

The Star War Jedi series release was a big step in EA's relationship with Disney, and now the company is focusing on building the relationship even further. As a result, Montreal-based Electronic Art Motive Studio announced it is working on the Iron Man game.

The Iron Man game, confirmed in September, would feature an original narrative based on the story of one of the most loved fictional characters Tony Stark (Iron Man), enacted by Robert Downey Jr., the Hollywood actor in the popular superhero movie franchise. In addition, EA's Iron Man game will be a single-player, third-person action-adventure game available on PC and consoles.

EA mentioned that the deal with Marvel gives it access to one of the most significant and widespread entertainment companies. The films based on Marvel comics have been an enormous success, and EA earlier collaborated with Walt Disney to develop a game based on the Star Wars movie franchise for PCS, consoles, and mobile phones. The first of those, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, was released in late 2019 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. EA gave it a next-gen update for PS5 and Xbox Series S/X in mid-2021. A sequel, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, is expected in 2023 on PC, PS45, and Xbox Series S/X.

Select the Tweet that you’re willing to edit. Next, tap the 3 dots and open the More menu. There, you’ll find the Edit Tweet option, click on it. Now you can make changes to your tweet. Once that’s done, then tap on the update button to update your tweet.

One thing to keep in mind is that tweets can only be edited within 30 minutes from the time of posting and they can only be edited up to 5 times.

Telegram is testing paid posts to help creators monetise their content: Heres how it works

Earlier this year, the popular instant messaging service Telegram released a Premium subscription model. As a part of the subscription, Telegram offers exclusive features to users, such as the ability to follow more channels and download files at the fastest speed possible. Most recently, Telegram has been spotted experimenting with paid messages and media, a feature that could enable several content creators to monetise their work on the platform. A report by 9To5Mac tells us that Telegram is testing paid posts.

As seen in the screenshots shared by Matt Navarra, paid posts seemed to be locked behind a paywall. The posts could include images, videos and even text messages, and they can only be viewed once a user pays the mentioned amount through a button at the centre. 

Otherwise, the video and image previews are blurred out, and messages are collapsed. The report mentions, "paying to access individual posts could also become a simple way to gauge interest in a creator's work, helping them gather funds for small-to-medium-scale projects, or rally support for social causes."

The platform is looking for ways to help creators monetise their content

In a post, Telegram's CEO Pavel Durov said that "some content creators started using third-party payment bots to sell access to individual posts in their Telegram channels." This way, they could receive close to 100% of what their subscribers paid. However, Cupertino-based tech giant Apple raised this issue with Telegram, saying that it has a problem with creators monetising their work without paying a 30% tax to Apple. 

Hence, Telegram had to disable the bots on iOS devices. Adding to his statement, Durov says, "this is just another example of how a trillion-dollar monopoly abuses its market dominance at the expense of millions of users who are trying to monetise their own content."

In the past, apps like Fortnite were unlisted from the Apple App Store for not following payment-related guidelines. Although something like this should not happen with Telegram, there is nothing wrong with the platform looking for ways to help creators monetise their content. If paid posts become a thing on Telegram, other social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and even WhatsApp will likely follow.

The Elder Scrolls Online players can transfer their data from Stadia to PC

Last month, Google announced it would shut down its cloud gaming platform, Stadia. For instance, Bethesda has announced that it will allow The Elder Scrolls Online players to transfer their account and other data from their Stadia account to a PC or Mac. To transfer their data, all Stadia players have to do is log in to their account via a PC or a Mac and download the game on their device. It would not cost the players a single penny and save all their progress, along with in-game characters, collectables and other items. 

It is possible because The Elder Scrolls Online players have been playing on the PC/Mac mega servers from the very beginning. The cloud gaming service was running the games on the same servers used by PC and Mac users; hence, the saved data is compatible across both platforms. Even if players cannot access their account information, Bethesda states that they will be able to recover it. In the worst case, players can contact the company via its support page. 

Stadia shuts down on January 2023

While Google shuts down Stadia on January 23, 2023, those who purchased the hardware from the company via the official Play Store will get a full refund. However, the company has not yet clarified the process for initiating the refund. Nevertheless, customers will be notified of Google’s plans well in advance. In the meantime, if players want to explore other cloud gaming options, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Nvidia’s GeForce Now and Amazon Luna are the available options.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro+ banner leak suggests a curved AMOLED display

Redmi Note 12 Pro+ banner leaked online before the company's official announcement. The picture that surfaced online confirmed the smartphone will feature a curved display. Although preliminary information, it is likely that the panel in question will be OLED. The company has not yet revealed any specifications of the smartphone, and we know little about the details of the new phone. However, tipsters have claimed some features of the upcoming series.

The Redmi Note 12 phones could include a Dimensity 1080 chipset for the two Pro models. The Dimensity 1080 chipset is an upgrade over the Dimensity 920 in a few ways, but the focus is on the chip's ability to handle a 200MP camera. Therefore, expecting a 200MP camera from at least one of the Redmi Note 12 phones is not unreasonable.

Xiaomi's Weibo post teasing the Redmi Note 12 series confirmed that the phones will come with "two major technologies," one of them being "first in the world." In addition, it confirms that the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ has been certified to support 210W charging. 

Now, there is still a bit of mystery in the air, and the more details are likely to be uncovered closer to the launch date.

Xbox releases new update for alpha testers, contains better Discord integration, among other features

Discord has announced a new Update Preview coming to the Alpha ring insiders. The OS version released as a part of the update is already available to Xbox Insiders from October 19, 2022. While some changes in the upgrade include background improvements, Xbox has also released some user-centric features, including Capture & Share, Live Streaming via Twitch, and Settings - Language. 

Xbox Insiders update comes with new features 

As mentioned earlier, the new Xbox OS update comes with Capture & Share, which includes a new playback and editing app called Captures, which is accessible through both My games & apps and Guide. The app will help users capture and share videos on other digital platforms. Microsoft has also improved the UI and performance of the app and added a new option to copy players' local captures to external drives. 

Further, players will now be able to stream to Twitch from the Guide using their Lightstream or Streamlabs subscriptions. Players must change the Destination drop-down on the Live Streaming options page to do this. In addition, Microsoft has also added support for the Ukrainian language as a console display language. Although some experiences, such as in Store where everything might not be displayed in Ukrainian. 

Users can now join a voice channel from an Xbox console in an easy way

The Microsoft Xbox OS update's main highlight seems to be a Discord Voice feature. The feature makes the Discord server & voice channel browser available upon clicking the Discord button in the Guide under the Parties & chats section. Hence, account-linked users can join the voice channel directly from their console. Those who do not have their Xbox and Discord accounts linked will be asked to connect their accounts first. 

Although, players still need to keep their phones handy if they want to join direct calls. Microsoft has also fixed other bugs and known issues with the update. First, Xbox engineers have fixed an issue where the console would sleep instead of shutting down properly. Then they have also updated the interface to reflect local languages across the console properly.

WhatsApp Call Links feature is rolling out for both voice and video calls: Heres how to use it

WhatsApp Call Links is available on Android and iOS. You will get the prompt to update WhatsApp if it isn’t on the latest version. And if it is updated, you will see the option to create a call link in the calls tab within the app. Here’s how to go about it.

How to create WhatsApp Call Links

1. Update WhatsApp to the latest version from Google Play Store (for Android) or Apple App Store (for iOS). Once it’s updated, open WhatsApp.

2. Go to the Calls tab and you’ll have the ‘create call link’ option atop the recent calls list.

3. You will now get to choose between voice or video call and the link for the same will be visible up top. You also have the option to send the link via WhatsApp (directly within the app), copy and send the link to other apps as well as share it externally through the Android/iOS share sheet options.

4. Tapping on the aforementioned link takes you to the call screen. You will have to grant some permissions for this to work. Do that.

5. You could join the call and if you haven’t yet shared the link with others, the screen would show ‘Waiting for others’. You could add people from the saved contacts.

6. There’s an option to even send/share the call link whilst you are already on a call. You just have to press the back arrow on the top left corner. That minimizes the calls screen to a mini floating window. 

Now, if everybody else leaves the call, the app tells you that if nobody else joins the call again in 60 minutes, then the call will be automatically disconnected. So you have a 1-hour window to share the call link and add others to a call in which you are already present.

The WhatsApp calls you have been part of through a link show up on the recent calls list of WhatsApp with a link symbol.

At present, WhatsApp is reportedly allowing 32 participants in a video call. That may be small compared to what Zoom and Google Meet permit but WhatsApp is deeply integrated into the lives of millions in countries like India. So, if the app they use day in and day out anyways gets a feature like this, it's likely to enhance the user experience and be quickly adopted by many. Let’s see.

Microsoft looking to challenge Google and Apple with its own Xbox mobile store

San Francisco, Oct 20 (IANS) Microsoft is working on an Xbox mobile store to compete with Play Store and App Store.

The UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is currently looking into Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard, and they have discovered the company's plans to create an Xbox-branded mobile game store, reports The Verge.

To build a gaming store, the tech giant might use the successful mobile games Candy Crush Saga and Call of Duty: Mobile, which are produced by Activision and King, respectively.

According to a graph from the company, the mobile game industry represents a much larger portion of the overall gaming market at 51 per cent.

Given Apple's restrictions on third-party app stores on iOS, it is impossible to see Microsoft store on iPhones. But it's obvious that doesn't stop it from planning an Xbox mobile app store.

If the company wants to succeed in this plan, it will need to recruit third-party developers, the report said.

By agreeing to a set of guidelines, the firm appears to be setting the framework for developers to independently manage their own app stores on its Xbox mobile platform and provide their own payment methods for handling in-game transactions. That is a feature that Apple does not provide.

FIFA 23 World Cup Mode leaked ahead of the official launch: Heres what it reveals

EA Sports have not officially launched the World Cup mode in FIFA 23, but fans were surprised to note that certain players could access the World Cup Online Quickplay's mode via Ultimate Team through a leak ahead of the launch. VGC reported that Youtuber NickRTFM managed to play a couple of matches using the Ultimate Team by selecting Multiplayer Activities - World Cup Online Quickplay, and then going back to play Online Tournaments.

 

The glitch only works on the PS5, so a few PlayStation users were the lucky ones to access the mode thanks to this leak. However, EA will likely fix this leak soon and send out an update for players to download the new mode. Usually, every time during a World Cup, the EA Sports FIFA game usually releases a World Cup tournament mode for offline and online gaming. FIFA 23 launched about a week ago, and it appears that this could attract more users towards the game.

The game will likely announce and release the World Cup mode close to the actual tournament. Still even before that, EA recently reported that the game made the series' most significant launch period, with over 10.3 million players alone in the first week. EA Sports has seemingly gone all-out in this final outing for the franchise, as the games will release under the EA Sports FC banner next year. It will be astonishing how the PlayStation community responds to the change and whether FIFA will choose to lease its license to another publisher making FIFA a challenger to EA FC.  We’ll see.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales PC coming on November 18: Everything you need to know

Sony has announced a bunch of new details about the upcoming Spider-Man: Miles Morales PC port. For starters, the company has announced the release date for the game and thankfully, gamers won't have to wait for too long. The game will release on the PC on November 18, 2022 and those who pre-order stand to get a bunch of bonuses as well. As it is the PC version of the game, players will get a bunch of additional settings to play around with so as to ensure it works with various PC configurations. 

According to a post on the official PlayStation blog, the game will feature options for ray-traced reflections with varying levels of quality. Further, the game will also offer ray-traced shadows for outdoor light cast by the sun and the moon. The PC version of the game will also support ultra-wide monitors and setups with aspect ratios of 21:9, 32:9 and even 48:9 triple monitor setups. 

Further, Spider-Man: Miles Morales also supports Nvidia DLSS 3 found in the latest GeForce  RTX 40 Series GPUs. This technology combines DLSS Super Resolution, DLSS Frame Generation and Nvidia Reflex. Of course, Nvidia DLSS 2, Nvidia DLAA and Nvidia Reflex will also be available.

This includes GTA: Vice City The Definitive Edition, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition, and more. Players will also be able to play a number of tiles in the Assassin’s Creed and Dragon Quest series. In fact, the service will add a total of 23 new titles.

Sony notes that all of these titles will be available to PlayStationPlus users from October 18 onwards. PlayStation Plus is available in three triers and starts at ₹499/month for the Essential tier. However, in order to avail of the game catalogue, you will need to be a part of the Extra or Deluxe tier. These start at ₹749/month and ₹849/month respectively. iQOO Neo 7 scheduled to launch on October 20: Heres what to expect

iQOO has revealed that it is launching the iQOO Neo 7 on October 20 in China. Besides the name, date, and time of the event, we also get to see the phone in orange color and its rear camera panel too. We shall talk about its rumored cameras and other specifications here.

The highlight of the design is the rear camera panel consisting of 3 snappers. The leader of the lot is believed to be a 50MP Sony IMX 766V sensor. Some time back, the company’s product manager had shared an image taken from this phone that showcases its low-light photographing prowess. 

The cameras aside, the Neo 7 is said to feature an FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate.

Internally, the phone could house MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ SoC with a 5,000mAh battery with 120W fast charging support, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. There could be other configurations too, but not known at the moment.

Among other things, the paraphernalia could comprise of an optical fingerprint reader, NFC chip, and an IR sensor.

iQOO Neo 7 launch date

iQOO is slated to launch the Neo 7 on October 20 at 7 PM in China (or 4:30 PM IST). There’s still time till the day and so we should be coming across more details by then.

Electronic Arts launches new PC client for Windows and Mac users after 10 years

One of the most popular video game publishers, Electronic Arts, has bid farewell to the 10-year-old Origin platform. From now on, players will enjoy their download and manage their favourite games through the new EA app, which has been under development for two years. The new app comes with improvements in the UI, helping users discover new games, stay connected with their friends and provide an enhanced user experience. 

The new PC client is EA’s fastest platform yet

In the official blog post, EA calls the new PC client their “fastest and lightest PC client to date.” Before the announcement, EA tested the PC client in open beta. The new EA app comes with a streamlined design that ensures players can easily find the game they want. Further, the app features automatic game downloads and background updates so that the games are ready to play anytime. 

The EA App will also allow users to connect to other platforms and services like PlayStation, Xbox and Steam. This feature will be helpful, especially for games that support cross-play, including the latest FIFA 13 and Apex Legends. Further, EA will assign users a unique ID that will make them recognisable by their friends. Electronics Arts will invite Origin app users to switch to the “faster, more reliable, and more streamlined gaming experience” soon.

Players don’t need to worry about their games, including local and cloud saves and other related content, as by the time EA invites them, all their digital assets will be waiting for them on the new app. However, if someone hasn’t received the invite, they can head to the official EA website and download the latest PC client for Windows and macOS. Google Messages is rolling out reactions for SMS compatible with Apple iMessage

Google Message is getting the ability to react to SMS texts. While SMS is one of the oldest ways of sending text messages, some users prefer texting with their near and dear ones over SMS. For them and others who occasionally open text messages, they will be able to send an emoji reaction via SMS, which was only possible with RCS.

Although the feature is not available to all the users yet, a recent 9to5Google report says that a few Google Message users are "able to react to SMS texts." The way it works is that Google Messages users have to press and hold a text message until they see seven emoji reaction options at the top. Then, they can click on the desired emoji reaction. Now, the reaction shows in two different ways to the recipient. 

If the recipient uses the Google Messages app, the emoji reaction appears at the bottom right corner of the message bubble. However, when the recipient is not using Google Message (or using an iOS device), the emoji reaction appears with a short message, highlighting what it has been sent as a reaction to in quotes. In a nutshell, the feature adds liveliness to the old way of texting others and bridges the gap between Google Messages and Apple's iMessage.

For those who are catching up, the Google Messages app has supported Rich Communication Services, abbreviated as RCS, since 2020. It is a new messaging protocol that lets users share high-quality files, such as videos and photos, over boring text messages supported by SMS. However, Apple sticks to iMessage, a platform that works seamlessly between iOS devices but converts messages from Android phones to SMS and MMS. Google calls these, 'out-of-date technologies from the 90s and 00s' and has been after Apple to adopt RCS for quite some time.

However, Apple is not in the mood to pave the way for RCS. When asked about any plans to add RCS to iMessage at the Code Conference 2022, Apple CEO Tim Cook stated, "I don't hear our users asking that we put a lot of energy on that at this point." Though Apple is not making any efforts to improve cross-platform messaging, the Google Message update will surely enhance users' experience.

WhatsApp screenshot blocking feature appears in the latest beta app for Android: See how it works

WhatsApp is finally getting a feature that should have been a part of it long before. Well, we are discussing the WhatsApp screenshot blocking feature which is currently being tested on the beta versions of the app. More precisely, WaBetaInfo tells us that the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.22.3 prevents the recipients of ‘view once’ messages from being screenshotted. He has shared some images of this thing in action. Let’s have a look.

According to WaBetaInfo, once this feature is active when you try to take a screenshot of a view-once image or screen recording of a view-once video, all you get is a black screen. WhatsApp will show you a toast message that “can’t take a screenshot due to security policy”.

Apparently, this won’t work even if you use third-party extensions to grab the screenshot. 

Here are some other things you need to know about the WhatsApp screenshot blocking feature:

The other person won’t be notified that somebody is trying to take a screenshot or screen recording. Rather the person attempting the act will get the aforementioned toast message and black screen. At the moment, this blocking restriction is applicable on images and videos only. That means you can still take screenshots of chats and messages even if some of them are of a ‘view-once’ nature. Other limitations include the clamp on forwarding, exporting, or saving disappearing images and videos. All that said, nothing is stopping a person from taking a photo or video of the view once content using another phone or camera. 

The screenshot blocking feature is spotted as part of the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.22.3 which is available through the Google Play Beta Program. However, since this is still in beta, you could expect some changes or improvements to its implementation.

Netflix Games adds Oxenfree into its library: Heres where you can play it

Video streaming platform Netflix is making the Oxenfree game freely available to its users with a subscription, more than six years after the game made its PC debut and five years after it debuted for iOS and Android users.

According to Engadget, users can now download the new "Netflix Edition" of the game from the iOS and Android app stores. This version of Oxenfree has expanded localisation support.

Users can now play the popular game with subtitles in more than 30 languages.

The popular game joined Netflix's catalog of games but is particularly notable for being an in-house release, the report said.

The company acquired Oxenfree developer Night School Studio last year.

The company will release 'Desta: The Memories Between', the latest project from Monument Valley developer Ustwo, on September 27. It also teased that the critically acclaimed Kentucky Route Zero would "soon" be available for free as well.
