India missing from leaked list of countries where Google Pixel 4s Motion Sense capabilities may work

One of the officially outed ipieces of nformation about the upcoming Google Pixel 4 is that the handset will support motion gestures. The company will be integrating the Soli Radar chip on the Pixel 4 series of phones so that they can track a user’s hand gestures and execute a task that’s assigned to that particular gesture. While we previously came across a report that claimed this feature would work only in select countries, 9to5Google claims that it was able to get its hands on a pre-release APK of Motion Sense, which reveals 38 regions and 9 media apps could support the feature.

Soon after, XDA Developers also reported of finding a more comprehensive list of countries where the option could be made available. This list reveals 53 regions and 23 media apps that support Motion Sense. While some countries like Canada, UK, Australia and the US are present on the list, India is surprisingly missing. However, the list of 23 media apps that will support Motion Sense includes apps like Wynk Music, Gaana, Hungama, and JioSaavn among others. These apps are widely used in India and the inclusion of these apps suggests that the company might be planning to bring Motion Sense support for the Pixel 4 handsets that would be sold in India.

As for the new Soli Radar chip Google is using on its Pixel 4 series of phones, ášhe hardware enables one to use gestures for conášroling the device’s functions. Skipping tracks while listening to music, accepting or rejecting calls and snoozing alarms by simply waving your hand over the device. The sensor is said to be capable of detecting sub-millimeter motion gestures at high speeds and that too, with notable accuracy.

Coming to the Pixel phones, the Pixel 4 will reportedly feature a 5.7-inch Full HD+ OLED display while the Pixel 4 XL might get a 6.3-inch Quad HD+ OLED display. The handsets might support 90Hz display refresh rate that Google is reportedly dubbing “Smooth Display". The phones are expected to run on Snapdragon 855+ SoC and might come equipped with 6GB RAM.

AMD Ryzen 3000 series has a processor for everyone

For the longest time, Intel has enjoyed a monopoly of sorts when it comes to Laptop processors. The few AMD powered machines we did see were mostly grossly underpowered laptops, usually created with the sole aim of making the machine affordable. Advanced Micro Devices or AMD as we all have come to know the company has fast pivoted from that state of things. AMD’s Ryzen processors have quickly been gaining favour with OEMs and customers alike. This has allowed AMD’s chips to infiltrate more segments than before.

AMD for the budget conscious

AMD’s Ryzen 3000 series processors have found their way into many budget friendly laptops in the market. Lenovo’s Ideapad S145 with the AMD Ryzen 3 3200U processor can be picked up for under Rs 30,000, depending on where you buy it.

AMD for thin and light

The advantage of the new AMD Ryzen 3000 series processors has been their low TDP and excellent thermal management, allowing OEMs to pack more powerful components into thinner and thinner chassis. While these laptops aren’t ultrabooks by any shot, they are still slim and light enough to not pose as a burden in case you have lots of travel coming up. The Asus Vivobook 14 measures just 0.7 inches in thickess, with a total weight of 1.5 kilograms, and it packs the AMD Ryzen 5 3500U processor. That’s 4 cores with 8 threads in a chassis so thin.

AMD for the Gamer

AMD’s Ryzen processors can be found on many laptops, but one area where we are most excited to see these chips is in gaming laptops. Laptops like the Asus TUF FX505 employ the Ryzen 5 3550H processor along with discrete graphics to be able to drive the 120Hz panel on the laptop. That’s already quite a decent specification set, but Asus also sells an SKU with the Ryzen 7 3750H, in case you needed more horse power from the CPU. There's also the Asus ROG Zephyrus G GA502 which is also a Ryzen powered laptop, and is part of Asus's elite ROG brand.

AMD for Everyone

In a space that was traditionally dominated by Team Blue, AMD is making great strides and breaking a lot of stereotypes. The company’s new third generation Ryzen processors are making their way into most of the popular categories of laptops, given their wide variety of features, all the while keeping battery impact and thermal in mind. And if you look close enough, you realise that the AMD powered laptops are slightly cheaper than their Intel counterparts, meaning you get to save some money as well!

OnePlus introduces new OxygenOS features for India

India is an essential market for OnePlus. The company recently launched the OnePlus TV and OnePlus 7T here. OnePlus' transition from an affordable flagship to a  premium-tier smartphone brand has made it popular in the country. OnePlus is ahead of both Apple and Samsung in the Indian premium smartphone segment. Hence, it is natural that OnePlus is focusing on this market. Now, the company is introducing new features to its OxygenOS for the Indian userbase.

OnePlus is introducing Smart SMS to OxygenOS for an enhanced messaging experience. It will automatically categorize all messages, and perform quick actions like calling delivery boys or copying OTP codes. This includes bills, bank messages, tickets and more.

Cricket is one of the most popular sports in India and OnePlus is introducing OnePlus Cricket Scores as well. It will help cricket fanatics keep up with all the major tournaments and matches with real-time updates. Further, users can customise it with their favourite teams and access all this info from the OnePlus Shelf.

Moreover, there is a feature called OnePlus Roaming, which is an international, SIM-free data service. Another feature is “Work-Life Balance,” which will allow users to sort notifications between work and personal categories. It will automate the notifications with users’ location and other factors so they aren't bothered by work notifications while relaxing and vice versa.

OnePlus Gallery is also getting an update and can now sort pictures into smart albums based on recognized faces, their timestamp, locations and more. It is all done locally without an internet connection. Moreover, the company is giving users  5GB of free storage and an additional 50GB for free for the first year.

OnePlus hasn’t yet disclosed when these features would be rolling out. However, we are expecting them to roll out with OxygenOS 10 in the coming months.
